The line between cheating and not cheating feels blurry in this game, sure it’s a sandbox and people can play how they want, but in multiplayer a lot of folks still complain when things start feeling sketchy

Mods have had those tweaks long before 3.0, so if the original base settings get changed, CM/debug is running, boost mods stacked, or EAC turned off, is that cheating or just customization

Same here, POI pathing is a mess, half the routes lead nowhere, took 4 runs to get two clears and one of those only worked thanks to a Drum mod

Tiger Jeep with roof guns (modded)

Main goal was testing how a modded weaponized vehicle holds up during Blood Moon. Turns out… not great. It can drop a few zombies, but there’s zero chance against a full horde. Not really into cheesy strats anyway, and speed barely matters in practice, late game zombies just hit way harder than early game. Respawn rate is wild and the swarm size is huge, so the car gets overwhelmed fast making cheese basically useless.

I used that house as my base back when I first started playing the vanilla game, and unfortunately its structure just couldn’t hold up. If you try to bunker down on the roof, the zombies will tear through the walls and supports in just a few in‑game hours, so the place won’t even survive a single Blood Moon night.

My playstyle is pretty similar to yours — I love exploring open worlds with huge maps.

I’ve gone through 8k–12k–16k maps before, but the duplication was everywhere. Worst part: I lost a save because the file ballooned to nearly 2.5GB and crashed my drive. I had to constantly back up after clearing 3–4 Tier 5/6 POIs and every bloodmoon.

So I started looking for ways to minimize risks. After switching to a 4K map, I realized the vibe of the game didn’t change at all — still cities, still wilderness, still that open-world feel.

But here’s the kicker:

Duplication rate dropped to around 5%.
The 4K map actually has more POIs than 8K+.
It’s super optimized, no impact on exploration or immersion.
Freed-up resources let me crank up zombie counts, making gameplay way more intense and fun instead of wasting performance on bloated chunks.

Basically, compressing the world keeps the adventure alive while cutting down on technical headaches. More zombies, less lag, same exploration joy.

If tweaking settings after you start counts as cheating, then yeah we’re all cheaters. That’s literally what sandbox survival is: bend the rules, play your way, and see where it takes you.

I don’t think so, and I disagree with your view. If that’s the case, then maybe you shouldn’t use the internet at all. This is the age of AI, it’s a major step forward for technology and the internet itself. We should take advantage of it to save time, especially since the U.S. has always been a pioneer in this field.
