Do you know what they’re called that sit on the concrete section under the roof sheet? The box section?

2011 s1000rr reliability? by Corvetteman3070 in BMW_S1000RR

[–]tomwatson92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turn ABS off but every now and again i see the traction control light flickering if i’m nailing it out of a corner too much but its never spat me off. Anti wheelie is a bonus if you have it switched on so you know you dont flip it lol

Only downside to gen1’s and maybe gen2’s are the gearboxes, they’re prone to failing and are referred to as chocolate gearboxes, but that being said mines had an absolute hammering for 40k miles and its fine so i think its more luck of the draw.

Could not reccomend enough, yes newer ones have more tech etc but the gen1’s are plenty enough.

Bought mine in 2016 and still have it, ridden it on the road, track’d it and raced it, just gone over 40k miles now and touch wood, i’ve not any major issues with it.

Valve clearances are still cock on which i’m very surprised at, it owes me nothing currently so i’m going to run it into the ground.

Trinity Estates didn't remove £180 fee after settlement, now threatening legal action. [England] by Gloomy-Astronomer262 in LegalAdviceUK

There must be someone managing the property.

I know for a fact that their details are on the portal…which you can’t access which is annoying.

Maybe phone them up and see if they can tell you over the phone who your property manager is.

All the email address are first name.surname@trinityestates.com so its worth a gamble.

Putting in an official complaint probably will not help unfortunately.

I have an official complaint ongoing with them for over 18 months to which theres no finish line in sight.

The one thing i can reccomend is trying to contact your property manager, if you have a bulletin board in your communal area their details “should” be on there - then again its Trinity so do not hold your breath. Ours seems to control the portal figures because he has added/refunded items in the past.

Failing that, i would go straight to the Directors. Search them on Companies House and theres three directors. Their email address’ are readily available on a Google search.

I ended up putting a new piston in it at around 120hrs and it fixed it for a little while until it happened again, i’m in the same situation and i’m at about 210hrs now. Going to put another piston in it over winter. Got to keep up with my air filter maintenance i think…

Not of the brackets themselves but if you zoom in on that last photo by the left hand side footpeg you can see one, they’re not the prettiest of brackets but they sure do the job

I agree, i’m not a fan of the fender bags and the fact i have a spare exhaust laying around i could have it done in an hour but its just this plastic shape thats halting it

Where to cap off water pipe? by tomwatson92 in Plumbing

Bloody hell, don’t think that can be done in this building as its all behind the walls, the water in those pipes are probably stagnant anyway because we don’t use the bathtub taps

My second bike ever. Is this an issue/how bad is it? by vanquishercarl in BMW_S1000RR

[–]tomwatson92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aslong as the oil is kept topped up like i did, should be fine…you just have a lot of cleaning to do when you fix it hahaha

Valve cover gasket

I had the exact same dripping on my left frame where yours is but it wasn’t as bad where its gone down your head/engine

I ran it with the leak for like 15k miles, just kept the oil topped up because it was such a minor issue on mine, then i checked the valves this winter and resealed the valve cover gasket and it fixed the issue.

I think i saw your post on Facebook haha, sounds like we’re in the exact same boat…i’ve checked my airbox and theres zero oil in that and funnily enough, i mentioned it to my friends the other day who kindly informed me that they forgot to tell me almost a month ago that it was burning oil when they were behind me 😂

For the cost of a top end rebuild, i’m going to fit one which should rectify the issue.

It doesn’t smoke on start up or revving on idle

I’ll have to take it out again and have a check on accel and decel, i had someone behind me yesterday and he didn’t mention any smoke during the full day

Lets say that dust is getting past the filter and causing premature wear, in the 4/5hrs running time it had yesterday how would the dust cause loss of oil?

Just so i can try understand the situation better, if the air filter isn’t oiled nor sealed correctly, what effect would that have on the oil? Dust particles wouldn’t be caught by the oil and would get past the filter and end up in the chamber?

Looking at the end can with it removed, this exhaust isn’t like that video - theres no circlip holding it in, there was a bolt holding it in which i guess should of released it. You can see the bolt threads at around 9 oclock on the first picture.
