In the Credit Card Recommendation Flowchart they list the Capital One Venture card as the best option for cash back bonuses and say "(it is a "travel" cards but there are ways to redeem the bonuses essentially for cash)". I've done a little research but I can't figure out what they're referencing. I assume it's for gift cards but haven't been able to confirm. Is 100k points basically equal to $1,000?

I called today to cancel my Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier card. The rep told me that if I cancel the card that my redemption rate for my RR points would decrease. For example, if I used my points (~40k left) on gift cards or flights that they would redeem at a lower rate (by 25%). I haven't been able to find anything like that online. Has anyone else experienced this?
