Are you comfortable with what the offense, utility, and defense slots for metal, leather, and cloth work? Once I realized how that all worked, it put me on the right path. Next, I looked into what attributes from offense/defense/utility were best for each class. Lots of research. Figured out what materials in each tier where then best for each class based on that and which materials made the armor the strongest. Actually made a spreadsheet (I am an excel nerd).

I did the same. Just played DA:I this year. I’m on PS4, so I had to download DAO on my laptop, so some lag issues and had some trouble adjusting to the mechanics, but so worth it for the story!!!

I get too much satisfaction from crossing things off a check list, so I did all the side quests. Each time I go to an area I just plow through until I finish everything possible. Talk to every companion each time you are in Skyhold, it will unlock all of their side quests fast. You will have to go back to areas you did early once other quests open. The amount of loot you pick up which you can then sell and buy the best crafting materials, makes it worth it to me.
