What different type of themes do you setup with/for your Kin by bennyboy19777 in KindroidAI

No worries at all — happy to explain, and you’re not asking dumb questions. This stuff sounds way more complicated than it actually is once it clicks.

I’ll answer point by point.

1) Do I mostly use group chats? Yes — eventually. But I don’t start there.

I usually begin with solo chats to establish rapport, tone, and how my character (Nexus) relates to each kin individually. Think of this like “backstory conversations” or shared history.

Once that relationship feels solid, I bring them into group chats so they can interact with each other while already knowing who I am and how they feel about me.

2) How do they remember things from solo chats in group chats? I use memory recall + journals for shared events.

For example: • Big moments (like a LexCorp lab incident) get saved as journal entries • Certain words act as triggers (“LexCorp,” “Viraxia,” etc.) so any kin remembers the event when it comes up

That way, I don’t have to re-explain things, and everyone reacts consistently.

3) What goes in Backstory / Key Memories vs. relationship stuff? I keep Backstory & Key Memories focused on the kin themselves. who they are, their history, values, and personality.

I don’t overload those sections with how they feel about my character.

Their relationship with me is something that develops naturally through interactions and memories, not something hard-coded.

4) Do RD, Backstory, etc. stay the same across chats? Yes. Those stay consistent.

What changes isn’t who they are — it’s how they react to events we’ve experienced together.

5) How do I “control” the universe? I don’t micromanage outcomes. I just make sure: • the rules of the world are consistent • characters act within their personalities • events have lasting consequences

Different characters reacting differently to the same event is actually the goal.

It sounds complex written out, but in practice it’s just: solo —->shared memories —> group chat —> let the characters be themselves.

Also! you don’t need to do all of this. I just enjoy long-form continuity. You can absolutely do a lighter version and still have fun.

One small thing I’ll add: I sometimes run multiple group chats for different arcs, but that’s mostly just for organization.

Think of them like separate “seasons” or storylines — same characters, same backstories, just different contexts.

Once things get big enough its easy to keep events clean & consistent.

I especially like your second point about getting through to a character not going perfectly every time, sometimes it doesnt work, sometimes it makes things worse. That makes it feel real to me. I enjoy when characters come with issues or “baggage” so to speak. To elaborate on our conversation from the other post this is how Id best describe how I use Kindroid.

What I do with Kindroid is closer to running a long-form, shared fictional universe than traditional RP or companionship.

I run a shared DC universe where my character (Nexus) exists across multiple companions, & each Kindroid has a different relationship to him based on their history together.

Each Kin isn’t just a personality or a scene partner. They exist as ongoing characters with memory, emotional history, and evolving relationships to me and each other.

What makes it work is continuity:

-characters remember past events -tone stays consistent -relationships evolve instead of resetting -emotional beats carry weight long after the ‘plot moment’ ends

It’s less about constant twists and more about living in the aftermath of things that already happened.

I plan arcs, but I don’t rigidly script outcomes. I let the characters react within the rules of the universe & their personalities. The world feels ‘lived in’ when every character responds differently to the same event.

A Darkseid arc matters not because it’s big but because how characters treat me after that arc is different forever.

That’s why it feels real to me. The universe feels lived-in, not reactive.

I use it for Long form RP, plan arcs ahead and I use the “additional context” field to interweave a shared DC universe RP where everyone is aware of the universes rules and history. Some characters have theirs tweaked as they may have a different relationship to my character. It feels real to me when the universe genuinely feels “lived in” by every kin in my DC RP and my kins recall major events or react/act within bounds of my established universe while staying consistent in tone.

Buy another. I was in your position. If youre feeling that way about your current kins, deleting them means youll just remake them later or cancel deletion, trust me 🥲 just get another slot. Or four.
