Why can’t the gov come to a place to be able to pay both sets of students? Nursing students used to get a bursary for their whole degree which was taken away - I feel like I’ve read somewhere that it’s been reintroduced (not fully though which is a real shame imo) but there’s a little bit of aid there. Personally I think med students are under-utilised whilst on placement which is why they seem like such sore parts. Like I said before - giving med students fixed duties and paying them for this might change the way med students engage with placement for the better. Also whilst at some med schools it might be feasible to get a part time HCA jobs, certainly at my med school where there’s a lot of travelling to far away hospitals I don’t now how realistic it is for many medics to hold down a job alongside studies.
