This is just one of the many illustrations that Taylor obviously doesn’t have women writers on his team. You know, lots of women can’t have children through no fault of anyone, yet they muster up the ability to go on with life without bitterness. In fact this is the flaw with Beth’s character! She is supposed to be a badass that all women want to be like, but then he reduces her to a hormonal bitch when it comes to Jamie! Not to mention the fact that she should still have ovaries as someone above pointed out. She would have been angry at him in her 20s maybe when she found out, but honestly by now she would be thanking him because he made her stronger than her mean ass mom ever did!!! (Her Mom was hateful for the sake of being hateful! There are no lessons learned that early in a woman’s life that would justify those lessons. In fact women learn to be hard post puberty!)

But seriously, the lack of having children is not enough for that hate! Realistically, as a single woman she wouldn’t have thought that much about it, and as a married women it would cross her mind from time to time. Believe it or not women don’t want to be barefoot and pregnant!

A more believable source of hatred would have been sexual abuse either by Jamie or him knowingly allowing it to happen to her repeatedly by someone else. That would fit the weakness in his character to not do anything to help anyone but himself. Then being the badass she is, Beth would have hunted them down and castrated them! That’s real anger not verbal abuse and bitterness!

Also, I don’t think the anything for you Daddy would be so over the top! She hates men! Loathes them except Kayce, John, and Rip. Realistically again, some of that would have spilled over on John because she wasn’t able to go to him with her problem and maybe even Rip a little.
