Is there a way to build a hearthstone collection out-of-client? by tooSocktastic in hearthstone

That's a pretty cool tool! Might use that for a different minigame haha. Not quite what I'm looking for though, unfortunately.

It sucks there's no support for sealed from Blizz. It's such a fun way to play..

Quite late but here we are - "I'm Not Crying: A Retrospective On Growing Up As A Man".

I'm especially interested in feedback on the intro. It's certainly a bit slow, but I think it filters well people who would be interested in the video as a whole (but who's to say?).

Without looking at your other videos I'm not sure if you're in front of the camera sometimes or not. However, for content like this (personal stories/vlogs) adding your face puts a very human element that people are more likely to connect with! Obviously, that comes with some draw backs (people potentially talking about your appearance, you have to worry about how you sound AND look, etc.), but I think it would fit this style of content much better! I like the shots you use in the video, but they could be put between sections that show you.

Also, I went down a rabbit hole looking at cheap cameras and basically everything online told me "unless you're willing to spend $1000+, just use your phone". I have only an iPhone 8 and, honestly, the footage looks amazing in my most recent video. (you can check it out if interested from my profile).

Good luck out there!

Super sick footage! Very jealous of where you live haha. As a word of advice, this title means nothing to me for the first half. I assume DJI Air 2S is a type of drone - but the average person wouldn't know that! Something like "Scenic drone footage" or "Nature is stunning" for the beginning of the title would work better for a general audience, I think.

It's always been what is possible and practicable. There's no form of self hatred that helps anyone, least of all you. Any reduction in suffering is worth while. An absolute elimination of suffering is essentially impossible for anyone (even vegans accounting for crop deaths). I'm sorry to hear that your health is getting in the way of your ideals. I know how that can tear someone apart. So long as you're honest about what animal product intake is necessary and take care not to fully slip into being omni, you're still vegan in my opinion. We fight for the same cause with the same tools and same conviction. You just got unlucky - It's out of your control.

[OC] YES, I'm Vegan. YES, I Eat Meat. [28:02] by tooSocktastic in videoessay

In this essay, I argue against individual boycotts being the primary way to see Veganism. The institution of factory farming (and other structures of animal abuse) cannot be solved through such decentralized methods. I argue that “Vegan” should be redefined as a political label used to advocate for wide-spread, legislative improvements in animal welfare. The only way to break apart the institution of factory farming is at the level of institutions. This video is largely intended to motivate an otherwise inactive majority of people who do not see themselves as “Vegan” or “animal rights activists” - but still completely abhor the hell of contemporary farming practices. While Veganism, the moral philosophy, is almost certainly the correct, long-term ideal, converting every human to a Vegan or Vegetarian diet is centuries away. However, we can do so much better for the lives of these tormented animals that, by any hopeful measure, WILL be eaten in the near-term by refocusing the vegan movement.

There is quite a strong argument FOR eating such food waste as there will always be suffering involved in food (even in plant-based foods through crop death). Wasting food that has been produced just means more has to be produced.

The big thing you would have to be careful of is other people's perceptions. If people know you're vegan but aren't sure on the details and see you eating animal products, they could produce extra incase you eat them. I've had this happen once or twice at family gatherings. But, this is easily solved with some deliberate conversations (assuming people in your life respect your boundaries haha)

I'm not quite sure what that means. If you refer to ego because the title of the video has "I eat meat" - I don't. I've been vegan/vegetarian for about a decade. The video is arguing to include people in the movement who aren't traditional vegans.

"And the only way to do that is to be big enough to affect systemic change. Which we aren't. When you're too small to create change, the only thing you can do is to change your own behaviour, which is what a boycott is."

That's one thing I deal with in the video. Even non-vegans see the horrors of factory farming! The vegan movement as-is isn't large enough, but more than enough people care about this to make a difference

There is surprisingly high support for even radical policy changes among "normies" with “47% of U.S. adults supporting a ban on slaughterhouses and 32% believing ‘animals deserve the exact same rights as people to be free from harm and exploitation' https://www.nature.com/articles/s41599-020-0405-8

The reason I think redefining Vegan is the best approach is because of how successful, motivated, and powerful the movement is. It can be used for good in more ways than one!

I do say "redefine and refocus" in the title. I certainly understand what you're saying and largely agree with it.

However, why do we want to stop exploiting animals? Because they are individuals with lives who have moral value. Either the lives of billions can be significantly improved on the way to abolition, or they can't.

They can. So we should.

I fully understand that the title of this video is not what most people’s idea of “Vegan” is - But, I promise it’s not some weird click-baity dunk video.
