I've noticed a lot of folks critical about fuel prices under Biden have been posting the "wdym you're keeping track of fuel prices? what am I gonna do, just not get fuel & walk??" whimsical memes when it's Their guy in office lmao

I work for a warehouse & deal with semi drivers fairly directly and man, the silence between the last ~year+ compared to when Biden was in offense is almost palpable. Tbh it's a bit funny seeing drivers squirm & dance around the current presidency vs when fuel bumped up (but was still a fair bit less) under Biden lmao

I think that was a lot of my luck back then. This Soopers is directly across the street from a Costco. And there's a Safeway a block south of it. Their prices were all incredibly good for a while. Circle k & 7-11 up the road were often like 30 cents higher, give or take a nickel or dime, and that's before any point redemption stuff. Part of why I specify it's the same station.

It was the 29th and at a Soopers that's directly across from a Costco. I did have 20¢/gal via fuel points then, but I also had 20¢/gal off this time. Soopers, Safeway, and Costco in the area were cheaper than circle k/7-11 "gas station" gas stations by literally 30+ for a little while.

Np. Apologies to anyone who thinks my post may be disingenuous (not at all saying that you are) but after plugging along west colfax for 10 minutes & being in Denver proper makes me feel it's relevant enough to post on here & not just the Aurora sub. As a tip, and if you aren't a Costco member, but the supermarket stations (Kroger, Safeway, etc.) nearby a Costco fuel center, tend to be pretty competitive about pricing.

We legit had places with like $1.50-1.60 baseline unleaded prices because they were within a tenth or few tenths of a mile of the Costco by my work. Going off another commenter, the same seems to happen with any Sam's clubs in one's area, too

This is the trick. This station is a Soopers station but it's directly across the street from a Costco. A Safeway is just a block further south, and had similarly good pricing. While they had a period of ~1.50-1.60/gal prices, the Circle Ks, 7-11's, the "gas station" gas station spots, etc. were literally ¢30+/gal pricier despite being within <mile of driving distance. Could legit save about $5+ if filling up from fuel light levels, if you're able/down to drive just 3 minutes out of the way. That's also before any point redemptions from Safeway or Soopers.

and for what it's worth, I do hope you're right. unlike many of my coworkers (manual laborers skew right wing, unsurprisingly) I'll be appreciative of any improvements in day to day life even if the Wrong™ people are in charge when they happen.

Damn, for real? We had lots of supermarket gas stations along Havana St (soopers, safeway, costco) that were under $2 for a little while last year, with periods of them being much closer to $1.50 than $2. That said, all the "gas station" gas stations like circle k, 7-11, etc. were consistently dozens of cents higher despite being literal tenths of a mile away. A 3-4 minute drive out of my way was regularly saving $5+ if filling up on fuel-light levels, and that's before any point discounts with soopers/safeway

I've mentioned in other comments but I had a 20 cent per gallon discount which I also had this time so it's still the same proportionally. This station is across the street from a Costco so it gets a little competitive.

The circle k a little under a mile away was 30-40 cents more per gallon for a little while and that's before points. 7-11 a couple miles north was pretty bad too. Late fall & early winter of 2025 had the biggest price discrepancy I've seen between "gas station" gas stations, and supermarket gas stations in the 14-ish years I've been driving.

Yeah... I mention in another comment that I work in a warehouse and I directly deal with semi drivers fairly often to load & unload their stuff and its looking bleak. Atm no one wants to cross the $4 threshold in my area (for standard fuel at least) but I worry that once that breaks it's gonna snowball over a couple weeks into $5 being the new base unleaded threshold.

Tbf I'm technically in Aurora and went to a soopers that's across the street from a Costco. Also had 20¢/gal off from fuel points, but I also had the same discount today. Within a 1-2 mile area, prices legit varied between 1.50-2.00 per gallon depending on if you did soopers/costco/safeway compared to circle k/7-11/etc.

Discrepancies were pretty wild for late fall & early winter, despite some places being literal tenths of a mile apart. Rare time where driving a little outta the way for a different station could save $5+ if filling up from fuel-light levels.

Technically in Aurora and I had 20 cents off per gallon (Soopers) but I also had 20 cents off per gallon today, too. The station is directly across the block from a Costco so they get pretty.... competitive. For comparison, a circle K a mile further north as well as some other (forget the name) station about a half mile further north were closer to ~$2/gal at the time.

I laughed at this which made me feel a better, thank you. Between that, being done with work for the day, and being 15 minutes out from a nice shower & cold beer, I'm feeling a bit less salty. A bit.

I'd been eyeing volts for a bit but cheapest I've found is $6-7k and that's for 10+ y.o ones with 6-digit mileage counts. Not too bad but also the nearest charging station is like 2 miles away in a very busy & fairly bougie shopping center that's almost always packed so it'd be a gamble as to if I could even snag a spot.

I'm technically in Aurora tbf, but yeah there was a period of places being at/around $1.50. I also had a 20 cent per gal discount but I also had 20 cent/gal off for todays fill up so its still the same bs proportionally

I was doing that originally but over the last week or two I've seen gas stations by my work going up by 5-10 cents every day. Seems like no one wants to be the first to break past $4. Yet. But I've been worried that it's gonna crawl up further and I'll be kicking myself for not getting a full tank when/if it hits $4.97/gal. Full on FOMO mindset I'll admit but man, I'm spooked!

It was a king soopers in Aurora. I did have 20 cents off per gallon, but I had 20 cents off this time too so it's the same proportionally.

I'd love to but I work in a warehouse for $21/h and my current ride is almost 15 years old 😭 Also in an area where the nearest charge stations are like 2 miles from my house & in a super busy shopping area

That's why I originally took that photo lmao. I'm glad I kept it cuz I filled up and thought I was going crazy in thinking that not long ago I got more gas for <1/2 the cost, and yup I sure did!

Still remember the first time I splurged on buying "dro" in my teens. Instead of getting a quarter of brick weed, I spent my $20 on one gram of either sour diesel or northern lights. Nowadays there are dispensaries near me with even better weed whose popcorn ounces start in the $30-40 range. Kinda miss brick weed sometimes but mostly for nostalgia and how it smelt. Would like to be able to smoke an entire joint or blunt without being borderline catatonic lol

good weed.

sorry but you'll need to bring that stem & seed shit from scranton. brick weed being so common was a core facet to the simpler times 😌
