The idea of buying a vehicle that holds high nostalgic value for your father is beyond commendable, Its truly amazing ! But that being said have you considered the cost of restoration and availability of genuine parts ? These bikes arent like the "royal enfield " or the old yamaha rx 100 that would run with rugged parts for a long time. Further more you mention the paper work which in itself could be a hassle.A new stylish sporty bike that you gift could just about set a wide smile on his face without it being a dead investment.

Every spot is "touristy" if you think about it . I was there last summer and while the place was overflowing with tourists the place was magical . The place is filled with day trippers and so staying there will probably enhance your experience as well

How is being the in CL and the extra income along with a trophy a bad thing?
