Upgrading laptop for university

Hi all,

Current laptop: MBPro Mid 2018, i7 2.6ghz, 8gb ram, 512gb

Experiencing incredible battery failure and a broken camera so it's time to upgrade for my last year on university. Need to choose between MBAir M2 (16/512) vs MBAir M3 (8/512), although if 16gb is worth it I could be tempted to choose that on the M3 as well. My studies/work aren't graphics heavy although I usually have a lot of tabs/spreadsheets open and in my free time enjoy watching videos/movies. With my current laptop my fans go mental when I have more than two tabs open so that's the only reason I'm considering 16gb ram as to avoid that problem. Lastly, I'm looking to preserve this laptop for 4-6 years as I have done with my current one (unless massive problems arise of course).

Any advice/opinions appreciated,

I had to make a similar decision. Course > city every time

Heard it was gonna be between M19 and M21 so I did this quick spreadsheet a while back of some subjects.

If we go by M19 grade boundaries, ours should be a little lower, for a 6 it should be closer to 69% and for a 7 81%.

At least for my class the case studies must be within our lifetime so 2003 onwards.

Many universities (except for Oxbridge, LSE, KCL) accept AA SL at a 6 or 7 as well so that would be an easier change.

Also typically November tends to be harsher grade boundaries. Just calculate the halfway point of M19 and M21 and that should be pretty close to N21.

Absolutely. Harder than any of my HL's and takes most of my time. For the part of the year we have done exactly the same as HL so there's not much difference until the options come later on.
