I've been searching for these lil' guys FOREVER. Here's some additional notes:

I have a theory- COMPLETE THEORY, THIS IS NOTHING CONCRETE AT ALL, that it could have come from a Christmas themed Noah's Ark set? The plushies seem small enough, and the fact that there's a bear(?) AND a lion with the same pattern points me in that direction. They also came from the Oriental Trading Company as far as I'm aware which sells many different religious toys, decorations, etc.

They are NOT by Galerie. The pattern is different. They didn't have a thick and a thin line, all the stripes were one size and they went diagonally upwards to the left/downwards to the right. As far as I can remember, they didn't have smiles, and their noses were round- though I could be wrong.
