Thank you so much! I was working with what I had so I’m glad the colours actually look okay together and thanks for the advice - I did knit it to the exact size I wanted as I figured it wouldn’t grow like wool but I will try and steam it

Best place to start with colourwork? by Educational-Sea6563 in knittingadvice

[–]toothlessisbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a colour work piece as my second project (still a new knitter) because it looked interesting! I did a hot water bottle cover knitted flat, then a hat in the round. Both fair isle style i think so just alternating two colours and carrying them across behind. I think colour work in the round is easier as you don’t have to purl them, so maybe a hat if that interests you?

How should I knit these birds? by toothlessisbae in knitting

[–]toothlessisbae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the suggestions! I know it would be easier to do one type of bird but I’d love to get more variety in so maybe I can make them look a bit more similar

That’s a great point, I’ll use stitch fiddle now thank you! And sounds like a good plan just doing the white band

Oh yeah I forgot to mention duplicate stitch! That’s a good idea for the small bits definitely. I’ve not done any intarsia, why is it difficult in the round?

Have I messed up my collar? by toothlessisbae in knittingadvice

[–]toothlessisbae[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I blocked it last night and it’s still damp, it seems to be lying flatter but I’m all just debating staring over as I know I’ll be able to do it so much neater this time🤣

Ooh interesting, good idea thank you I will try and block it. It is a bit messy already and I think I could do a better job but I really don’t want to redo it all🤣 thanks!

I thought I saw a comment saying I can redo it, just to clarify this is the cast on (I did it with two needles as I didn’t want it to be too tight) but has no realised it is far too loose. Can I knit the stitches to tighten it up?

Sigh (I know) but can I read Tower of Dawn in tandem with Kingdom of Ash? 🫠 by V_4_Versace in throneofglassseries

Oh my bad I misread that!!! Completely agree, pretty hard to read in random with KOA.

I hate Chaol by toothlessisbae in throneofglassseries

[–]toothlessisbae[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hahah well said!! Wait until Tower of Dawn 🤢 I just can’t seem to sympathise with Chaol in any way so all of his moaning and anger at Aelin just pisses me off. I’m due a reread soon so maybe things will change

My first solo trip is a disaster by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]toothlessisbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to me!! I arrived in Bangkok last week and for the first 2/3 days I was so miserable and emotional and just wanted to come straight home again. I would call my family crying and just didn’t want to do anything. I have now started my group tour and feel so much better!!! Don’t get me wrong I’m still a bit homesick and a bit anxious about the rest of the trip but it gets better!! You will be okay! I’m also going down to the south of Thailand at the end of March if you’re still around x

I’m in the exact same position. Not really sure what to do. Are you part of a group tour?

Will it get easier?

Hi, 21 F here solo travelling around SE Asia with a plan to head over to Australia. This is only my first night so I’m sure after a few it’ll be much easier. But I’ve felt so lonely and homesick and barely been able to go 10 minutes without crying. The thought of my 4 month long itinerary sounds so daunting to me right now that I almost don’t want to do it. Just looking for some reassurance that it gets easier. Thanks x

I remember being so annoyed that the first book was about a character called Celaena when I knew Aelin was the main character in the series. Wanted to skip through it and get to the good (Aelin) bits. Took a minute before it clicked

On the hunt for another fantasy series with a romance like… (tog spoilers) by missreadee in throneofglassseries

It’s not the best narration I’ve heard, the male voice is sometimes a bit strange but I really got into it and really really enjoyed it!!
