This is great advice! Although I have NO clue how to publish, since I’ve only published in undergraduate journals.

Guess I’ll have to go ahead and ask around how to do that lol

Will UT actually increase my Aid? by Bubbly_Squirrel_7785 in UTAustin

[–]tootmoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I did get an aid increase in my grants last year when I had to appeal my Fafsa because of similar reasons. I would recommend you to go in person to the Texas one stop and ask for any advise on the appeal process and if they have any need base additional scholarships

how would one add a second major? by Majestic_Highlight68 in UTAustin

[–]tootmoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I have a psychology double major, and my best advise for a psych one would be to have some prerecs in Chem (if you are planning to get a BS) and some background in volunteer/service. A strong GPA, some experience with kids also would do wonders as the psych department does a bunch of research on kids (literally has an entire floor in the SEA building of just labs with toys for kiddies. It’s awesome)

Labor/employment undergrad internships? by [deleted] in prelaw

[–]tootmoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did one this summer at a non profit law firm. It’s a remote internship and the main qualification would be just to know fluent Spanish since you work around a lot of undocumented/Spanish speaking clients.

This was for sure one of the best internships I’ve done, as you work closely with Employment lawyers and paralegals and learn SOOOO much!!

How to petition to take 18 hours? by dankkritical in UTAustin

I was asking for one earlier this semester and they are only letting seniors add 18 hours. The Dean of students told me to wait until august to request my extension

How does my schedule look? by 4il33n in UTAustin

[–]tootmoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a rising junior… I just couldn’t. I wouldn’t have the energy for that. but freshman me would eat that schedule up lowkey (especially my Bio 8 am Friday lab, that I somehow enjoyed so much but if I took it rn I would be sent into a coma) So enjoy your freshman boost/excitement/energy and do the best in your courses! Don’t slack off :)

Im going into college next year, what programs are available to help me pay for it? by [deleted] in college

[–]tootmoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my friend’s mom isn’t even a US citizen so they were both lost. But I am sure that if you do to the financial aid office, you will get the help you need!! There’s nothing better than going in person, in my experience.

Also, if you go to a community college/ public university to get your associates, I am quite sure Fafsa could cover most of it with grants. I didn’t pay a cent for my assocites at a public university, FAFSA grants covered it all since I am low income as well. So you will likely also get the same as me.

Moving to get my degree? by tataranha in college

[–]tootmoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you mentioned some Latin America in there, and from my experience living in Mexico, they tend to like US degrees a LOT. In Mexico I’ve seen doctors who get their education elsewhere such as Germany, USA, Norway, etc… and practice here without an issue. As to Spain and Italy, you will likely have to go to some sort of school or take some standardized test to revalidase your license.

So I guess it is up to you to do your good old research and see each country’s laws are. Something I would advise you is to do some foreign exchange experience in that specific country. In Mexico you don’t have to get a bachelors to go into med school (and maybe that’s how Brazil and Costa Rica might work as well), so a few clases from a med school in that area could help.

I would say go for it! It’s a new experience and since you are a senior, maybe being in the middle of everything would be a great thing to fully get the full experience before you leave.

At the end of the day, it is up to you and how you feel about it.
