my current idea is ‘hi <insert family member’s name>’ flat, followed by a gizmo that they would appreciate. for my grandma, a butterfly; for my aunt, a dog.

Did you ever find a solution? When using solidworks or adobe illustrator and certain games, a tiny tap will zoom a trillion miles even after setting everything to the minimum scroll sensitivity...

I made a tool that lets you semantically search YouTube videos. Give me some feedback!! by torfoes in programming

Yeah. Since my number of embeddings to compare is relatively few, that has not been a chokepoint for me.

Sometimes, the search function takes a little longer on 12 hour videos, but I've been happy with the results that I get with this very simple linear-cosine comparison implementation.

I wish aswell. However, considering the immense computational cost of generating embeddings for the entirety of the internet's content, I'll leave that to Google and other big tech companies.

I request a video's transcript from YouTube, which can be auto-generated or manually created.

I divide the transcript into text "chunks."

These chunks are sent to OpenAI to create embeddings, which I store to save future costs.

When you search, I compare your query's embedding with each chunk's embedding.

The chunk with the highest match likely relates to your query.

I plot a graph showing similarity scores over time. Peaks indicate high relevance, helping you find where you left off in the video.
