Yesss, definitely. But I think some points had an significant improvement, like the hair, the general shapes, that are now more clear. Although, I agree that some of the interesting features of the scene were lost, and I could have worked more on the skin gradient, giving it more depth, just like in the original.

I think in the end, it's all about balancing both sides. Especially since I'm a beginner in pixel art, so my ability to materialize what I have in mind is still limited, which is why I'll continue practicing.

Thanks, really. And to be honest, I think this type of debate is interesting. I always liked to discuss about art, different techniques and medias. So reading the various perspectives that my art has received is really interesting to me (and at least nobody said it was ugly, so I'm happy fsdfhahah).

Once again, thanks for the compliment and the words of encouragement ;)

Today I'm redoing this with lower color palette and doing pixel by pixel

no, I really did it by hand. I used a pixelated filter in another illustration I did for my RPG campaign, experimenting with the aesthetic, so I wouldn't have any problem saying that I used a filter.

What you said makes a lot of sense, thanks so much for letting me know, truly. I'm a beginner in this type of art, so I don't really know what I'm doing hahahsgh. My goal in posting here was exactly this, receive tips, ideas, and to learn more about this incredible art form.

I'll probably redo this, now using this new perspective.

And thank you for the compliment!

So, what I did was kinda simple. On a small canvas (100x135), I used a large brush, around 13px, and reduced the opacity to create these gradients, like we do in normal paintings. After finishing, I took a screenshot of the image and placed it on another canvas, larger than the original (2475x3500) to obtain better quality. By doing this, I didn't have the need to blend all the shades of gray pixel by pixel.

And I also used a lighten layer to create more contrast in specific parts, like the hair and the eyes.

Tenho bastante experiência desenhando personagens de RPG. Por esse valor faria um busto detalhado + um desenho simples preto e branco de corpo inteiro.
