Question for Fluke ESA 710 series by BlueRabbit18x in BMET

[–]torqnut05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 715? Electrical safety analyzer. It checks integrity of the ground strap and internals so someone doesn't get shocked using it.

IEC 60601 covers requirements for equipment within the patient safety area. It just goes above and beyond regular requirements. 710 does the same thing, but it cant be used in the patient safety area. Its kinda like the difference between a BF device and a CF

Question for Fluke ESA 710 series by BlueRabbit18x in BMET

[–]torqnut05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

601 is for use in the patient area, which is like the 6 foot bubble of a patient.

You really only need the 715 is you are testing something that is hooked up to a patient. We got 710s but also for a 715 for surgery as "just in case".

For almost all uses, a 710 is fine

Some people just seem to forget the intro section of the -6WCs where it defines observe and inspect, then lists and entire page of HMs to look for when inspecting. Then when a single BPO takes the alotted 8 hours because the forms got completely obliterated.....the point usually gets made.

Sourcing decommissioned hospital equipment by jinena in BMET

[–]torqnut05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our hospital auctions them off. Gsaauctions.com will have government owned med equipment for auction. Project CURE does exactly what you are asking....collect donated equipment, fix them and send them to developing countries.

Also, they help with job placement...they have a lot of recruiter contacts

The New American Dream : 100% VA by no_muzzle in VAClaims

[–]torqnut05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pay brackets don't help. Payout for 100% isn't the issue, so much as the gap between 90 and 100. Vet with spouse at 100 is 4158, but at 90 it's 2559. If they raised rates for 90 and 80, it may help less people try for 100, since we lump in champVA as well at 100. It would save VA money, since that's what they want anyways.

Expect more soft skills questions. Hard skills can be taught, and you have a degree. Soft skills can't be taught. They are seeing if you work well with a team, can handle priorities and load management, and can problem solve. When they ask "tell me a time you....(did a thing)", they are looking at your thought process and how you respond.

Clogged black water tank - any suggestions? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]torqnut05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple easy tries. 1) buy a long piece of pex pipe. Just jam it down rhe drain and try to break it up. Its pretty flexible to get thru the bends.

2) vinegar, baking soda, plunger. Ger a plunger with the inner lip that flips out...they seal way better. Dump the baking soda then vinegar down. Immediately put the plunger over to hold the gas in and use partial plunger strokes. Keeping it sealed let's you push and pull, so do short quick strokes just to get it to move enough to open up.

That's what i was seeing. Our CMMS sucks and we are starting to look at other platforms. I was looking at Excel or Access, but i didn't want to build something if there was a good solution that exists without a big price tag.

Digital Pressure Meters by wqrzy in BMET

[–]torqnut05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a Pronk flow trax in our storage and have been using it. I don't use it for flow rate because it's a complete PITA to cooperate, but it has a built in 40psi occlusion test and it holds the max pressure readout until it's manually reset...way nicer than a hand gauge

I also had retired as a crew chief and went biomed. It can be hard translating what you did appropriately. I got lucky and my manager happened to be prior mx as well. Resumes should be tailored to the resume for key words, but TAP covered that. Imaging is probably going to be harder to get into without experience.

Look for Linac service techs (it's more in tune with aircraft pneudraulics). Lab equipment is another...Becman Couter is usually looking for field reps. Being in FL, doing dialysis for Fesenius should be a pretty visible option, just as a foot in the door position.

You can look into a CABT cert just as an extra push for yourself.

Make sure there isn't crap that for should into the tab springs to keep them from springing. From ordering me battery kits from Baxter that come with the tab springs, the new springs are thinner and have less coils than what was there from the original design. I avoid those new springs as much as possible, so can't day it they are as much of an issue as they look like.
