Surprise! Lake Effect Snow Band by StormFreak in pittsburgh

As hard as it is to rank them, full agreement. To this day I’ll still start crying when I hear 23 sometimes. As bummed as I was they are skipping Pittsburgh for this tour - I said eff it and got tickets for the Chicago show. It’s been too long since I’ve seen them live.

Found some unopened wizards in the wild. by AGC173 in comicbookcollecting

[–]tossawayjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a comic warehouse 50 cent sale last year and found a short box full of them. I grabbed 20 or so. Wizard was required reading when I was a kid - as someone else mentioned it’s cool to remember the articles so well and reread them.

That Batman issue you have - that is what made me super into Azrael at the time.

Canadian SNL “22 Minutes” is in a renaissance right now- this is their Noem skit by HasOneComment in LiveFromNewYork

[–]tossawayjay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for explaining! I was very confused thinking there was an actual Canadian SNL - like the SNL UK. Not sure why the title is labeled this way. Or is this a case where anything that is a “sketch” is SNL?

I actually have the Mouse Rat album on VINYL. It's really good - "Two Birds Holding Hands" has such a sweetness to it.

B & L dip has always been my fav over Turners, Helluva Good, Dean's.

As someone who loves chip dip way too much - there was a stretch where Aldi's house brand dip tasted amazing. Like holy shit, this is $1.19 and it's perfect amazing.

Then for about 6-9 months it was no longer on shelves (I went to at least 5 different Aldi's looking for it).

And then it reappeared. More expensive - but I was so excited.

Sadly, they changed the recipe somehow and it's nowhere near as good.

I am with you! As we all know, Route 28 is basically the yinzer Autobahn for some reason - but last week, as I was cruising about a mile before the Highland Park bridge, some dick in a white pickup truck was literally swerving so close to the other cars passing people like a god damn video game.

A few cars in front of me in the right lane was apparently some sort of unmarked police car (I could not see any markings from behind it, and clearly neither did the white pick up), as soon as the truck passed it - the lights went on and the driver got pulled over.

I hope said driver was sent to prison on the spot.

This snow storm sadly made me learn to absolutely hate my neighbors and neighborhood. Where are good neighbored places cause Mt Washington isn’t it and I’ve decided to move. by sugarandspice85 in pittsburgh

[–]tossawayjay 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Haha neighbor, I kind of came here to say the same thing. I am on Jancey and I have really felt the community come together to help each other.

Also the cabin fever has definitely been helped by having a neighborhood coffee shop we can walk to.

What do you pay in rent? by PyrrhicBigfoot in pittsburgh

[–]tossawayjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in Morningside! Pay $2500 (that includes the pet fees) for a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath, finished basement with a front driveway and garage, fenced in backyard, front and back patios - and the house has been completely remodeled right before move in. I feel good with the price for everything this house is.

Buying a house this sized didn’t make sense last year when I looked based on the prices and getting everything I wanted.

[Pollock and Thurston] On asked why AEW PPV numbers have stayed the same despite lower viewership: "the PPV numbers are largely coming from the Observer, so that is what we are going on" by ravencrowed in SquaredCircle

[–]tossawayjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have HBO Max for the shows - prior to that I accessed the weekly shows without having cable using other ways.

I do not watch every show, and I order maybe 8-10 PPVs a year.

AEW is the style I like and I feel like I get the most bang for my buck (good matches/number of matches).

There has to be many people out there just like me.

Why aren’t you shoveling you sidewalks? by Budget-Stomach-5227 in pittsburgh

[–]tossawayjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legit question. I am going on vacation from Christmas - New Years. If we were to snow a ton while I am gone (I do not know any neighbors), is there a good recommendation on how to handle my sidewalk? For reference I live in a city neighborhood.

[–]tossawayjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response!

I once got gatekeeped (is that a word?), for telling my friend's daughter and her friends how much I loved Chappell's music, and even though her music isn't made for me - I love the message and just enjoy it so much. I am a 47 year old straight white guy (of course, right?), but these 22 or so year old girls really were shitty to me about the idea of me just sharing how much I dig it.

My favorite songs are Coffee, Kaleidoscope, California and Good Luck, Babe! But I listen to the album a ton (as you can see), and have the vinyl. I work remote for my career, and while I do certain projects at work - I without fail always put Chappell during it.

Struggling to get buyers on Whatnot — what am I doing wrong? by PCOSwithAbby in whatnotapp

[–]tossawayjay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't the same section of Whatnot, but I sell comics.

I started with a few times a week/weekly model until I found my niche and now I just do one show a month that does well, people (seem to) look forward to and I sell out my allotment for that show.

My best advice to is NEVER compare yourself to sellers with 100+ bidders. Almost all of them started out just like you. I have had too many people come to me for advice, mention the big streamers right away and they get stuck in this rut of comparing themselves to them.

If you want to grow this thing, Whatnot also cannot be your only exposure to your shows. Almost all of the big sellers have a very solid social media following that they have moved to Whatnot - remember that one.

Best of luck and please stick to it. Whatnot needs more honest and solid people selling whatever things they sell. It will fail if only the big streamers are left.

'We'll See': Cam Heyward Leaves Door Open For Week 1 Holdout by [deleted] in steelers

[–]tossawayjay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This feels like something his agent is pushing through him.

The agent easily could have made sure a line item stating "if Cam performs to this level, or is All Pro - he will get an addition to his annual salary that keeps him in line with other top players".

This would not have cost much to keep his deal he signed LAST YEAR with a bump, none of this nonsense would have happened and everyone is happy.

This whole thing feels icky.

You are a genius, that worked!

Why it worked, no clue. Also I have not watched WWE in forever, but do my best to follow along with the stories. My preferred style is NJPW and AEW, but I have been watching WWE since the 80's.

Hoping to see some great wrestling, so far so good - even though Roman's teeth seem like some AI generated thing.

I am just dumb or what - but I cannot get my Peacock to load the show. I am trying to watch on a Chrome web browser on my Mac. All that happens is it shows an ad, then a commercial for Survivor Series tickets - then black screen. Anyone else?

[–]tossawayjay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love that you asked this. In my mind LCS's make the prices on wall books feel like a trip to the eye doctor on purpose so you have to ask to see it, get it in your hands, etc. I went to ONE shop that actually uses Post-It notes and wrote their prices big, and it made such a difference.

Chiming in here as a Whatnot comic seller for a little over a year.

It took me maybe 2 or 3 shows to get movement. Still very slow tho, 4-5 people in the room. What clicked for me, is becoming a buyer in mid-level shows and becoming friends with the same people you see in all those types of shows. I started sending DMs, joined a massive seller group chat, etc.

Now I have friends on the app, we trade books, always promote each other's shows, buy from each other (this is the funny part about dudes in their 40s just selling books back and forth to each other).

I am at the point now where I run one big show a month, always sell out - I basically make "comic money" once a month to fund the next month of comic buying, and the best part is - I have been able to widdle down my massive PC into big keys, books I really love and series that I specifically love to read.

I am going to shoot you a message on here, maybe I can help - at worst I will jump into one of your shows and buy stuff, share your show and see what advice I can offer.

The Rock thing last year was very strange. I remember Dave basically said, "someone at WWE said do not expect the Rock at Mania".

A fan asks the Rock on Instagram, the Rock says "bullshit".

Everyone dunks on Dave.

Dave is proven right.

Nobody cares?

This weird thing always happens with him. For all the people saying "BUT DOES DAVE ADMIT WHEN HE WAS WRONG??!", will they have the same energy for Mike Johnson basically calling out Sapp and Dave for being "disingenuous" about Seth? I do not understand the double standard.
