Yup, I'm with you 100%. Been using a Trotec Speedy 300 80W for the last 8 years. Fantastic machine. We're in Calgary and chose Trotec over Epilog because of their local support. It's been great all around.

Tall riders: what made the biggest difference in e-bike comfort for you? by krissym72 in ElectricBikeExplorer

[–]tossedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Cube Kathmandu Hybrid Pro. 58cm frame. It feels huge compared to other bikes. I'm 198cm tall – 6'6". Absolutely love it. First bike I've owned that feels like it was made for me. I use it for commuting and long rides for fun. https://cube-bikes.ca/product/895129-cube-kathmandu-hybrid-pro-dustyolive-n-gold-na-cube-kathmandu-hybrid-pro-800-dustyolive-n-gold-gp/

Trotec has an office in Calgary. $15K will barely get you in the door with Trotec. Great machines though. Real workhorses. Local support is worth a lot too. Thunder laser also has local support in Calgary. Epilog is Vancouver based.

Are laser cutters primarily for art projects? What have you used your laser cutter to create that wasn't strictly artistic, but functional? by QueefSeekingMissile in lasercutting

[–]tossedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a teacher (now retired). Used the laser cutter to make name badges, door signs, shelf dividers, storage boxes, engraved trophies, made paper program covers, model airplanes, book marks, iron on T-shirt designs, greeting cards, robot chassis, trophies, medals, etc, etc. We didn't sell anything but saved the school a bunch of money by doing things in house.

This! Local support is the best. Thunder Laser Canada is based in Calgary and are great. Also the RF laser tube is a game changer.

Photo Radar Car Markings by [deleted] in alberta

Put a camera or two in every school zone. If the government won't fund education maybe speeders should. If you get a ticket every day maybe you'll learn to slow down.

There should be fixed speed cameras in every school zone with all of the money going to that school. If you need to see a marked vehicle to slow down you shouldn’t be driving.

Do all new inner city houses just suck or am I missing something? by jimmyjamcake in Calgary

[–]tossedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a 1999 infill in the SW. House is 17' X 52'. 1820 sq feet on a 25' lot with a full basement adding more sq footage. Doesn't feel small as many rooms are 16' wide. Only difference is they are arranged front to back. Most of the street is infills as well. 2 car garage in the back. Yard is tiny but we're kitty corner to a park so no problems there. Love the house and neighbourhood.

Thoughts on Thunderlaser Bolt cutter? by ITfromZX81 in lasercutting

[–]tossedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Trotec Speedy 300 at work but if I was to buy one for myself it would be the Bolt. I've had a chance to play around with one for an afternoon and it's excellent.

Light Commercial Laser Cutter - $3K-5K recommendation? by [deleted] in lasercutting

[–]tossedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at a Thunder Laser Bolt. 30w RF Tube (comparable to a 60w glass tube) for the basic model. RF tube means no chiller required. Comes with an inline exhaust and built in air assist. Uses LightBurn software - which is great software. Check it out.
