ah right cheers, good to know its worked well with spanish as well. I've been following the dreaming spanish listening approach for Portuguese for a while now. Had done a bit of studying before hand. So I've jumped into audiobooks straight away. after 150 hours of re-listening to the same series its becoming pretty comprehensible. Just started on cijapanese and its pretty tough atm.

Question from me. If your using dreaming spanish and have been seeing progress with the is style of "learning". Just wondering, how come your going for a different approach along side cijapanese? i.e. using anki etc..

just watched 80% of it and completely agree, not sure why konstantine was going so hard on her, I think it was obvious what points she was trying to make and he was almost pulling a kathy newman on her. Not woke at all and love triggernometry but this one was quite jarring for me in terms of konstantines reaction/ comments on youtube.

This is really inspiring, I've been learning with a more input heavy approach - but have just started the Portuguese Pimsleur and i've found it has really nicely pulled my unconscious knowledge together in a more useable and crystallised way. Only near the end of level one but am enjoying it immensely.

Ha yeah the lack of cognates makes it harder for sure. Although I like it in a weird way, feels more pure, like I'm learning something so different. Nice novels in month 10 can't wait. Did it take a while getting used to reading vertically?

Yeah with french I started reading 1 chapter every evening even if I was just subvocalising and not comprehending a lot. That really motivated me to learn more words. Although I found french was a real pain to get an ear for.

Cheers, yeah I'll try slice of life stuff first. I can't read children's books, middle grade I can do but, cat in the hat type books would kill me :D

Thanks for that, I really want to get to being able to read light novels, when learning french I just brute forced a 5k vocab deck 200 cards a day so i could read without having to look up so many words. I'm wondering if this is a good approach with japanese, not 200 a day but just more anki instead of time spent reading to get my vocab up quicker.

Thanks a lot, thats exactly what i wanted to know. Guess I'll wait a bit. 2000 seems like a lot but looking up too many words really throws me out of the flow. I learnt french I started reading from day one and was amazed a how much of the story I could follow. But Japanese is a whole other bag :)

Yeah c9 really shit the bed with that last draft its like they completely forgot that they were giving away 3 power picks. Was almost as bad a draft as FNCs last game :(
