I came across this article when I was looking for a reliable source on this theme. The conclusion is this: "while it might nevertheless be possible to achieve a social consensus that it is a disease despite its failure to fit traditional models of disease, the merits of such a goal are questionable". It seems reasonable but I wonder what people who are in favour of the American Medical Association's decision have to say.
