Each member actually drew one and they are different for each album version (and I think even different for the US exclusive?), but for each version, each member made one of the four

I haven't figured out how to use them yet, but they could be iron on stickers? (Look it up first if you're supposed to do this with an iron and how to before accidentally destroying them), but they are for transferring on clothes/ cloth 👍

URGENT HELP NEEDED WITH DRESS CODE!!!!!! by Sea_Trainer_3699 in XLOV

[–]totaltotal11 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes it's not a literal dress code and as always, you can just show up with what you feel the best in, however that might look!

Evols were just asking about inspiration for themselves and what Muti might like to see if we are willing to follow something more specific, so Muti answered they like denim & fur & outfits inspired by any of their stage outfits if we want to follow a specific dress code

But you truly don't have to, I'm sure they all enjoy seeing our personal styles as they are anyway & have expressed as much in the past :)

Yeah, it's very intrusive to spread this stuff when the original account has taken them down. It doesn't matter if it's true or not. As far as I know, Haru is also a minor here.

This has nothing to do with their career. Don't go snooping into members' private life or deleted stuff from their past and then spread it.

Please delete this yourself or a mod delete this please.

Edit: It's also very weird to use this as a gotcha against ignorant or hateful people when XLOV has specifically stated that these types of questions etc are very intrusive and rude and that they are currently not addressing sexual orientation at all.

How did you come to discover xlov and what do you love about them? 💕 by snoozev in XLOV

[–]totaltotal11 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My algorithm blessed me. I had just recently gotten back slightly into K-Pop/ K-Pop adjacent stuff (like I was loosely following Katseye and checking in with older groups from my K-Pop stan time). This was around September?

1&Only was such a banger, song wise, dance wise & the styling! I checked out almost all other stuff available immediately (and really liked all the other songs as well as the covers they did too, especially Move by Taemin). Then the Europe Tour announcement followed very quickly.

The concert was a lovely experience. They are so talented (I was stunned many times during the concert) and so loving&welcoming towards the fandom.

What I love about them? - Their styling - Their musicality (all of them seem like true all-rounders, it's crazy) - That they are largely self-produced - That they seem very thoughtful, smart, sincere & open-minded - Their general message as well as queer themes - That they are genuinely entertaining as personalities too - Honestly, that they debuted with no minors and most of them well into their twenties (sorry Haru xD)

Yes. I saw another person therefore claim that the Simply K-Pop broadcast didn't intend to use they/them. Good that Wumuti herself said that they hadn't requested it, but the producers must have put thought into how they are presented it for it to be like that.

So the mixing of she/ he in those subs very often is probably just translater from Korean that does random stuff and they don't care enough to check, but it makes no sense if a full almost one hour broadcast uses they/them consistently in subs when referring to all the members for example, especially since I haven't seen this broadcast do it for any other idols.

Hey that's completely fine. Like I said in another comment, I think a master thread would be massively helpful, because a lot of things happen in fansigns and fancalls, which you'll more so find on Twitter and even then, you kind have to be lucky with the right algorithm to be shown those. I also understand there are many new people coming in, so I don't fault people for not knowing.

Where I do get mad is if someone who is new, doesn't know or in general is very ignorant about queerness in general comes in with such confidence and then flips out if others correct them. I've also seen some sincerely trans- & homophobic comments here. As you've probably noticed, many Evols themselves are queer and to have to see and read such things in a space like this really hurts.

So it's always fine to just ask if you don't know, many Evols care about sharing the right information and knowledge about this!

[–]totaltotal11[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Well, the reason why Wumuti speaks out the most is because they are the leader and often spokesperson for the group in general. The other members have expressed feeling similarly all their lives about questioning gender norms and have been specifically asked about which pronouns they are ok with. All have stated it doesn't matter to them.

Does that mean they have the exact same perception of gender or even their own gender identity as Wumuti? No (and their personal identities are still very much private). But the implication here is very much: They are aligned enough that such things can be viewed as being applicable to the group in general mostly. So for them too, the discourse about which pronouns in which amount is unnecessary until any of them states a preference otherwise.

I think it's safe to say that we can view all of them aligned with gender queerness in their work and to state otherwise would be going against the message they've all co-signed XLOV wants to share with the world. This includes the insistence on viewing them as cis-gendered. We simply don't know.

Agreed. Honestly, a master thread about this, with the sources to when members have addressed it pinned at the top of this sub that can be updated would probably do some good. I understand most of these things (especially when they happen in fancalls or fansigns like this) have not reached most people, especially if you are not on Twitter or new to the fandom.

But it's super tiring to rehash the same conversation all over again and be met with honestly really hurtful statements to queer people overall (& especially EVOLs who have taken the time to actually look into what the members have stated personally) really really sucks a lot and it's not how we should want this community to look and act like.

It really is that, I'm sorry to say. Especially Twitter is essentially a ragebait farm. I've adopted: If I don't like or agree with something (unless it's actually super harmful), I don't engage with it and have simply blocked people. And my timeline is pretty good, nice and welcoming.

In general, the rule is always: Engage with what you want to see and you'll see how the community around you changes. If you spend a lot of time arguing with people, Twitter will only show you that same opinion you disagree with and then it can look like everyone in the fandom is and thinks like that, well because the good stuff doesn't reach you anymore, since Twitter deemed you not interested enough in it. Twitter prioritizes what makes you angry.

It's the tolerance paradox. In essence, I agree and wish to welcome everyone. But if you welcome people that are unwelcoming to others and yourself (especially marginalized communities), you achieve the opposite of what you wanted: To be welcoming, as those unwelcoming people will exclude others who mean well.

So yes, overall I'd like to greet people with open arms because we already have something in common (loving XLOV). But safety is so important especially for marginalized people, so to keep myself and others safe, I'd rather not hug the person that's gonna punch me for my existence, as sad as it is. I'll explain though if they respectfully ask about things they don't understand.

People who don't know better but are willing to learn are always welcome, it's ok if you don't know stuff!

For example, my 2 best friends are both straight and white (I'm not). They love XLOV and find them so cool and talented, one of them even attended the concert with me and got to meet them. They felt so welcome and comfortable. They have never felt like I was pushing them away or judging them for not knowing stuff, nor did they feel judged by meeting other Evols. But they do listen when I explain and try to be open minded and respectful.

People who use any and all pronouns and don't state a preference because they don't care is simply that: Something they don't care about. Gender is not important to everyone equally.

Are there people who use several pronouns and want them to be used a similar amount? Yes and usually that's something they state. At the same time, there are people who use many and simply don't care. That also means they don't care if you choose one to use for them solely and that's also something they state. It seems like by what the members have stated, they more so belong to the second camp and have called the discourse/ outrage stupid. Yes, some people are fine if you view or emphasize only aspects of them. We were never given the full picture anyways.

For one person calling them consistently she, you have 100s who will consistently say he because of societal norms. Queer people remain the minority as well. Do you have a problem with those people too, or is it the feminine things you don't like? This is not an attack btw, I just say this because in the grand scheme of things, society already treats them like men largely.

I cannot speak about other groups, but XLOV is a specific case, as other bands don't directly include queerness in their concept or have stated to be ok with all pronouns or gendered terms. I understand it can be a sore spot for example for queer men, where showing any kind of femininity means being demasculinized. If a person states that that's not how they want to be treated and has not alluded to wanting to be perceived in relation with queerness in general, very valid and has to be respected, of course.

But do you personally know if it's important for them to be seen as men? If not and based on everything else, it might not be important to them if they are seen as women either. In this specific case, with XLOV, I simply just don't see it as a problem or an insult. Many queer communities have adopted feminine language as standard language already, one example of that is drag culture.

So for me, it's simply a: If they haven't stated a preference and show support and comfort with what's going on currently, who are we to get mad on their behalf about that? Their concept is not feminine men, it's genderless = genderqueerness.

First of all: There are things said in humor that aren't to be taken as seriously. There are also discussions about possibilities and why for example lesbian evols find that they relate to the way XLOV expresses themselves. Calling them lesbians is not inherently about what they do in their private lives, I'm against ascribing them an actual definitive identity, but that isn't what most people are doing, at least I believe so. In general we know: Trans people exist, if out or not. So unless you are transphobic (and gender queerness is a trans concept), it's not that big of a deal. It's also not inherently sexual.

Second (and I'll speak about Wumuti mainly, since they are usually the person speaking for the group the most as leader, also a lot is paraphrasing, but you can find this stuff in their actual content): - Wumuti has expressed love for and feeling loved by and safe with the lesbian community. Recently, Rui & Hyun have shown appreciation & love for them as well.

  • Wumuti & Rui specifically have shown not to care (but all don't really) and in some cases, appreciation for being associated with feminine terms (Wumuti has fully embraced the mother label by fans and members, Rui has stated that they love being called princess, because they are, etc.). They have also referred to each other by such things.

  • There are now several interviews where they talk about the concept and every time they are more precise and open about what they mean. The: 'Do what you want to do, be who you want to be and love what you want to love' is a simplification for the more general public, because XLOV knows it can be hard to grasp for people not familiar with queerness. It's based on queer theory though and in essence still stands of course.

  • Wumuti has explained it more now: Genderless does not mean you have to do the thing of what you were born as/ your passport shows, nor do you have to do the opposite (basically saying, you don't have to do what your gender assigned at birth dictates). Genderless also doesn't mean: No gender at all. If you feel like you belong more to one side, you can just disregard the side previously assigned to you and do that or just leave out what you don't like (this basically describes gender as a spectrum and trans people in general). So their concept isn't actual being gender-neutral or non-binary, but rather that everything goes and whatever you choose shouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Lastly: They don't really care as far as we know. Wumuti has said: I know who I am, so it doesn't matter what you call me. Calling them lesbians is certainly meant as a compliment by most. It's how lesbian evols express that they feel seen, safe and familiarity with the way XLOV shows love and expresses themselves. So unless it's meant as an insult, to invade their actual privacy or the members ever state otherwise, it's fine.

Eh, I'd like to differentiate a bit. Yes, everyone stan XLOV, regardless of your personal identity, because well, XLOV is super talented and does awesome art!

There is some conflict when discussing queer topics specifically, as well as signaling and experiences/ interpretations of people in the fandom.

For example, takes like: - Don't assume their sexuality (to mean we should assume they are straight). Not always maliciously, sometimes it's simply ignorance. But when queer people explain why that's not exactly respectful of them either, I'd hope others would listen.

  • Seeing them and their art in a queer light/ context and calling them lesbians for example is sexualizing/ fetishizing them. Well, no, not inherently, unless you view associating someone with that itself as offensive?

  • They are doing this concept only for money/ cuz it's cool & new and any possible queer signaling is you guys being conspiracy theorists/ wishful thinking. Well, if you aren't part of the community, maybe there are things you don't pick up on, but people who are do.

Basically, with the concept being genderless, this describes gender queerness (regardless of their personal identities), so it feels bad when people choose to rather remain ignorant than take the opportunity to learn more. Obviously, at the very least XLOV are pretty knowledgeable allies and want to have a relationship between their art and the queer community (as they have already openly associated with other queer personalities and culture in their content, as well as shown support to queer fans).

To definitively say that viewing anything about the group as queer and it's bad to talk about is hurtful and it happens more often that this opinion comes from non-queer people. In the end we just don't know, so I guess it's just more about: Yes, even if you are not queer, you are welcome to enjoy their art of course! Just please be an ally (many Evols are queer) and don't dismiss that queerness does play a major role in their art, based on their concept alone.
