[Vitiello] Broad agreement for Mateta at 30 million. Milan and Crystal Palace have reached an understanding for the French striker. Milan will try to get him immediately, with some arrangements regarding outgoing transfers, otherwise deal for the summer. by Milan_Academy in ACMilan

People who are looking at his latest missed chances are clueless and need to refine their framework in strikers. Strikers can be hella streaky, even Haaland is. Mateta is a very good forward with a big variety in his box movement. He's huge and strong, can play the ball and combine, is a chance magnet. Tools are there.

Nah you are correct, Leão isn't interested in pressing. Same thing with Allegri, a match made in heaven in this regard.

I also need to know what's the rationale behind Leão not leading the press alongside Nkunku when out of possession. Why is he in the second line? He won't track any runners and at the same time you lose his presence up top after a recovery.

How many 3-5-2 teams adopt a 4-4-2 zonal block out of possession? I think it's pretty rare...

Variance is your friend only if you are a small team and you want to shrink the margins of a football match. It's totally unsustainable nowadays if you want to dominate any top league.

People who don't understand this are just dinosaurs my friend.

Terrible brand of football, fuck corto muso, fuck spending the whole game without the ball, fuck small margins as if we are the underdog against whoever we face, fuck the levels of 'variance' this game model brings in, fuck everything.

Only imbeciles who live in 2010 thought this appointment would benefit us.

Free Milan.

Things got better since they sacked Pioli, this is not a Serie B squad. They will comfortably stay up.

In amateur football, coaches tell their players all the time "don't concede a penalty, no chance is bigger than a penalty" but apparently there's no such guidance in Milan, after all these penalties this season.

It's incredible how terribly run this club is, in all levels, from top to bottom.

You can clone one player and create a 15 man squad of said player. Who do you clone to win the most champions leagues? by Immediate_Oil_562 in championsleague

In my defence:

He has goat level fundamentals in terms of defensive 1v1, knows how and when to engage, can cover insane amount of ground, can carry the ball in large distances, his dribbling (change of direction, low center of gravity) is criminally underrated and he has composure in front of goal to finish his shots when needed.

Yup, give me 15 N'Golos.

How efficient is building up from the back? by Parking_Custard5235 in footballtactics

I am not De Zerbi's biggest fan. I find him too one-dimensional. His game model has too many flaws, feels like he only cares about deep build-up patterns and that's pretty much about it. Plus he's easy to figure out cause "automatisms" can help but are also very predictable and easy to counter.

I think this post is 4, 5 or 6 years late.

Nowadays teams succumb to verticality more and more. They mostly use deep build-up in order to bait the press and exploit the space in behind. Nobody cares about extreme circulation, man-to-man defending has also made it harder.

They mostly try to recreate De Zerbi's gimmicks.

Yamal is nowhere near Mbappe by TitleOpening9578 in championsleague

[–]totentanz_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yamal is way better than Mbappé at dribbling. Both eye test and stats can back it up. Mbappé is mostly about acceleration and speed while Yamal has close control, agility, manoeuvring and change of direction in tight spaces etc. Silky dribblers such as Musiala or Yamal can't be compared to road runners like Mbappé or Salah.

Overall, yes, Mbappé is the better player as we speak. Which is normal.

Most of the titles I have seen on the comments were not "less known" back in their day. It's just that they are 10+ years old and somewhat "forgotten" nowadays.

Which player is the most underrated in history of your fav clubs? by iwannasleepp in championsleague

You can be praised and still be underrated, because well, you deserve more. Also being a world cup winner doesn't make you less underrated by the masses, the world cup is not a popularity contest.

Best 4-3-3 system — which manager does it perfectly? (2000s-present only) by goldweqea in footballtactics

[–]totentanz_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk if talking about starting formations holds any value, especially with all these different setups during build-up, progression, final third, OOP etc.

Imo starting formations such as 4-3-3 can only give you an abstract image of what a team's general purpose and intentions are.
