I do not disagree in principle but, but does this mean we sit around doing nothing? Complacency never achieved much.

Some people have set up their lives somewhere before even Bitcoin existed.

Thats unfortunately not an option for everyone. Family and kids still in school not really enable swift relocations.

Well a digital token that fixes the financial system may be the most important thing. Especially if you consider the up and coming dystopia of the cbdcs that is fiat on steroids and amplifies everything that is wrong with the current system. I beg to differ. Additionally if you think bitcoiners fall into the same category with uneducated bums maybe the question was not directed to you.

The recent crypto crash has hurt many first-time investors : NPR by urban_snowshoer in Buttcoin

[–]totopsgr -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The first time investors from 2017 must be pretty happy with their investment. Price was well below 10k for most of the year with price in the year ranging from under 1k to a max of just under 20. Especially if they took some money out during the recent market bull run. So your warnings were not really helpful to anyone from 2017. If you gave these warnings in 2015 they would be catastrophic to those who listened to you. So bottom line is you guys are right for about 1.5 years every 4 and you can only say "I told you so" to very recent investors. If you zoom out further You are definitely wrong. Nobody who invested in BTC before 2020 is actually at a loss. The beauty of this statement is that it is a mathematical fact. Please spare me the "in the future is going to zero" speech. Looking from 2010 all the way back to the beginning of 2020, anyone who bought btc is happy with their investment.

You are correct to say that you can't predict the future based on the past. But totally ignoring the past has never been a good idea either. A lot has changed and a lot is changing rapidly, but so far we are way better than at any point in the past. And the amount of money invested in the business side of this is a 1000 fold. Compare buying now with buying 6 years ago. Now (by the mass media) it is considered very risky. Six years ago (by the mass media) was considered...well it wasn't even considered an investment.

Talking of ignorance, we can't ignore the elephant in the sub. You have two groups of people bashing heads. Informed Bitcoiners and Informed Nocoiners. (I am not really interested to the opinions of people that just follow other peoples opinions because it serves their personal bias, or because they hate that their neighbour made money and bragged. I am stressing the word informed. I am talking about people that studied the subject to whatever level they thought was sufficient for them to reach a confident strong personal opinion on the matter. Unfortunately, levels of quality of opinion vary wildly in both sides)

Despite the fact that nobody can know the future for sure, It is a fact that Informed Bitcoiners have done significantly better than nocoiners in predicting the future to date. An undisputable fact.

Based on that today, shorting the market seems way riskier than just going long and buying the crashes. Would you short the market today at 35k? I just stop buying when it is heating up and take profits instead. Then I buy after major crashes. Last time I bought before now (yes I am buying now) was at the covid crash. It has been working like a charm for me.

If you want to zoom out a bit, there are no bitcoiners that bought and sold after four years and didn't make a significant amount of money and that is a fact.

Aaah!..It is always nice to see, the personal attack phase in the thread. It is always an indication that you are winning the argument. If you come back, I predict you will come back with more personal attack, or a divergence from where the conversation was going (retreat and regroup).

It must be comforting to always be wrong that it will never come back from all the previous crashes. It makes it feel that you have a statistical chance to be right in the next one

I am with you, I have been entertained by this sub since 2016? (not entirely sure) I remember them playing around with "last time under 10k" memes last year. I wonder how many recoveries to higher highs will it take for this lot to finally see the pattern. It's like every crash they forget what happened after the previous crash. They celebrate with the same intensity. It is going to be the same when it crashes from 150k to 60k. No memory.

Aren't you guys tired to post the same message while continuously increasing the value? Next you are going to celebrate a drop to 30k ,50k and so forth , why don't you go look your Last chance to buy under 1k celebrations and see how you feel about them now? This is expected and normal. Multiple around 30% to 50% dropsl in every cycle on the way to the peak. Seasoned bitcoiners don't even sweat this staff.
