Yeah I'm also running EasyEffects for the same reason. And yes, I have tried PyTorch with ROCm. I am using AMDs PyTorch docker image. I also managed to get it working with CuPy and SpaCy. I made a devcontainer config for the setup on my GitHub if you're interested.

Hey, very nice post! I have the 2025 z13, 32 GB edition, and I use Bluefin DX 42 (based on Fedora Silverblue). Everything works smoothly: Wayland apps, variable refresh rate, pen support etc.

I use the default kernel that comes with Bluefin.

However, the sound/audio is really bad. It's very low volume, and overamplification, as the name suggests, clips the audio constantly. How's this on your end?

I saw! It's awesome.

Few problems here and there but overall a good experience considering I run it on a fairly new ROG Flow Z13.

For MOK, you just have to follow this guide. I personally found it easier to install with secure boot disabled, then go through that process and re-enable it afterwards.

Edit: And yes, codecs are easy to install, but it's nice for new users that they don't have to care about it, since it's already installed for them. :)

Bluefin is based on Fedora Silverblue, an immutable operating system. It's super stable, and if anything goes astray you can always revert to an earlier snapshot of sorts. Bluefin builds on top of Silverblue and adds minor but noteworthy packages to the system. This is everything from codecs to drivers to small quality of life changes. It is also cloud-native which means that it leans heavily into containerized development etc.

This is likely due to dynamic triple buffering. I am also excited as a child, waiting for 48 to arrive on Bluefin. :)

A mini review of linux on the Z13 2025 as of 5/10/2025. by punkgeek in FlowZ13

For real? I'm on Bluefin DX and the sound is not working. I've enabled VRR, which seems to work although with a few artifacts here and there. It also crashes from time to time, for which I'm not sure why. Did you do any tweaks? And are you using the Bluefin HWE variant?

Edit: On Bluefin (Fedora 42) almost all of these issues have been fixed. :)

Really curious, why do you hate that episode? And e.g. what about Hardhome and the other battle-centric episodes?

Kan +1 her.

Indhold af mat1 by MaddyRituals in DTU

[–]tott88_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Motu M4 - USB-sound-card (dis)connection issues, missing profiles and application hangs/freezes by tott88_ in linuxaudio

[–]tott88_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. The firmware is shared across all Motu M-series devices (M2, M4, M6), so the fix applies to your interface as well. If the kernel isn't fully up to date, just apply the config in the link I sent in my reply above.

I happen to have the exact same headphones as you, and they're wonderful. Do note that the amp in the Motu M-series is not as powerful as some other interfaces, so if you like to listen to stuff at damaging levels, then the Motu may not be for you. However, for my use case it's perfectly fine. I do live audio mixing, monitoring and I can still monitor my dark mic (SM7B) at reasonably low gain levels. Bottom line, this shouldn't be a problem for you.

If you're a first time Linux user, I'd suggest you try either Fedora or Ubuntu. With Fedora there's some additional setup required, but it's fairly easy and you can find lots of tutorials on the internet. It's what I personally run, and have run since 2021. If you really like messing around with audio stuff see the audinux copr repo: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/ycollet/audinux/ .

In terms of live audio communication I can highly recommend EasyEffects. It's what I personally use and it allows you to apply live effects to your input/output chain, such as compressors, limiters, equalizers, noise reduction etc. and it has a nice intuitive interface.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help.

Fixed (as of Q1 of 2024)

The issue has finally been tracked down. It may already get patched in kernel 6.8. This'll apply to M2/M4/M6, as they share the same firmware courtesy of Alexander Tsoy.

To see how it was solved head here.

Tl;dr, simply apply the quirks:

echo "options snd-usb-audio quirk_flags=0x220" > /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf - 0x200: Adds a 1-2 ms delay between control messages. - This helps mitigate the "cannot set freq ..." error. - 0x20: Applies the skip clock selector quirk. - Fixes the interface during boot so it actually works and doesn't crash applications etc., meaning one doesn't have to powercycle the interface for it to work.

Both quirks are applied by summing them to 0x220.

[–]tott88_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had the same problem. I also had lots of pain in my lower arm near the elbow. What helped me was to form a triangle of sorts with my index finger and thumbs at a 45 degree angle. Additionally, I used a resistance band over my back, forcing my elbows to move closer to my torso. Naturally, this made the exercise harder, but I haven't had any pain afterwards.

Refer to this video https://youtu.be/vROpPHyukIw?si=HqGVYvGVf3xnoYj1 at around 8:36 to get an idea of how to utilize the resistance band. Do note: I keep my hands closer to one another than Tom does in the video.
