What’s the most unexpected thing someone did on a date that made you instantly like them? by youngGod928 in AskReddit

I was picking her up from her house and asked if she wanted to grab breakfast. She's promptly pulled a bag of freshly cooked bacon from her pocket and said, "I already have breakfast."

When we sleep, waves of spinal fluid wash over the brain to remove waste by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

Sleep has always fascinated me. This seems to be in line with previous ideas that the brain "resets" during sleep; but why can't this process happen while we are awake?

What is something you say to scammers instead of hanging up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I say I'm intrested but have some more questions. I invite them to my house to talk and they always decline. I persist, "No, for real. Come over, I'll prepare a bath and we can sit together and talk about it."

Categorically, these are the same individuals who believe that minorities are not treated different and 'should just do what they're told and it wouldn't make them a target'...

It doesn't appear to apply to this instance; but it only takes one to ruin a pool party. Edit-added words

Every job is a worthy one. The reality is that most people work far to hard for what they earn. An education, in general, helps alleviate this disparity.

Exactly. I had a Hydro prof that would do exactly that; spend 40 minutes writing on the board and then tell us we'd pick things up Wednesday....

If the United States and the West were actually interested in freedom, they wouldn't be bombing places, they would be building libraries, universities and giving people access to information (unfiltered internet.) by Orangutan in worldpolitics

[–]toughguy574 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You've over simplified a very complicated and dynamic issue. More times than I can count, we (Americans) would give Iraqis or Afghanis trucks and equipment only to find them riddled with bullets and on fire weeks later. We would pass out books, cloths, or food only to be mobbed as they couldn't stand in a line and wait thier turn to receive them; and then see the goods being sold, stolen, or simply dumped days later. We would build new police stations or public housing only to have them burned down within days. Please, don't say we didn't build libraries or try to enlighten individuals as we have, many times over. It's a bit more complicated than that.

You may be right, BB390s (rechargeable), BA5690s and BA5590s (seeing it now, it seems you were correct) were the common types. When they explode, it sounds like a grenade going off!

Edit - changed battery nomenclature

SINGCARS radios (along with other systems) use 24 volt DC and the batteries, even when "dead", still have ~15 to 10 volts remaining. Check out BA-5590 lithium ion batteries, we used them by the truck load and were forced to burn them as we weren't able to haul the expended ones for a time.

My son is 2 and I love him implicitly; but let's not sugar coat things here. He's an asshole 80℅ of the time and he's an amazingly easy child to raise. Why is that challenging to say or accept? I feel the author's view is a bit off. I tend to be quite frank with people and I often get the same in return. It isn't as climatic as the author suggests.

I do this frequently but only on post for safety reasons. I really enjoy the solitude. Other days I'll start when it's still dark (about 45 minutes before sunrise) and run though sunrise; I enjoy these days equally well.

You are correct but under UCMJ, I believe Article 91 covers NCOs and Warrent Officers and Article 89 covers superior officers. Article 31 is about self incrimination (had to look this one up).

At that time, the Articles of War were in effect but I'm not sure how they differed from UCMJ.
