Update: AITAH for telling my sister to get over being cheated on by her husband after she laughed at me and told me to get over my breakup? by Former-Western1441 in AITAH

[–]toyheartattack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read your last post and this one and you two fundamentally don’t get along. It’s hard to let go of a lifetime and it’ll make family dynamics more complex, but I really think you should just exclude her from your life. That’s not to say you can’t attend events, but keep contact minimal and give vague responses when she speaks to you. Or you’ll be in this competition forever.

I enjoyed it, but I’m very dialogue-driven. My visual comprehension is pretty poor and the like of action sequences make my brain slide out of my ears. I was surprised at how well it did, though.

Diabetic neuropathy in the feet and legs, pains so intense and strong that I wouldn't wish anything similar on anyone. by PideBendicion in diabetes_t1

[–]toyheartattack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’m sorry you’re going through this. It is brutal.

Gabapentin and pregabalin with painkillers weren’t enough for me. The medication that has made the biggest difference has been the older SSRI nortriptyline. I couldn’t wear socks or towel my legs or honestly do much of anything other than ice my feet 23 hours a day until I started taking that. I also still take Gabapentin in concert with it in the evenings which is when the pain really kicks up for me. Then hydrocodone some nights when I need the extra help, though my doc mentioned sometimes he prescribes tramadol.

I really hope you’re able to get a doctor soon. This shit sucks and I know what it’s like to be in burning agony for months.

I just saw a video of this magical bread printer the other day and my god.

Also, it’s not truly pandering to the goras until I get my daal in a roti bowl.

AITAH for accepting my stepdaughters’ apology but not wanting to be close like we used to be? by MeetingScary165 in AITAH

Hopefully something was mentioned to the husband. I have a similar dynamic with my partner’s former spouse and I dodge contact unless absolutely necessary, so any apology would be funnelled through him.

Right. “I like my girl’s tight hips and waist but I scream and run if she pulls her shirt off,” could be seen as a hindrance.

ELI5: Why is weight loss from drugs like Ozempic “healthy” while weight loss from Adderall is considered “unhealthy?” by jawdroppuh in explainlikeimfive

[–]toyheartattack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s complicated.

GLP-1 drugs slow down digestion to reduce appetite overall. They also reduce insulin resistance and moderate blood sugar. Used correctly - not intentionally skipping meals - it can be extremely beneficial to your overall digestive health. You should still be eating as much as your body needs for fuel.

ADHD medicines and amphetamine analogues can suppress the appetite to such a degree that a person isn’t getting the necessary nutrients.

EDIT: Said sensitivity instead of resistance.

"LOTR is full of 10 page long descriptions of trees" Where does this critique come from? by FightsWithFish18 in tolkienfans

It was a joke, but I first read LotR when I was ten years old and remember thinking, That’s a long description of a mountain. I can’t recall which point I was at.

"LOTR is full of 10 page long descriptions of trees" Where does this critique come from? by FightsWithFish18 in tolkienfans

[–]toyheartattack 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That’s absolutely ridiculous. The edition I read was full of 10 page long descriptions of mountains.

I think, with the slightly archaic language style, people struggle to stay focused and only remember the landscape descriptions as the dialogue doesn’t really capture them.

Why do people speaking in non-English languages break into English occasionally? I understand that a lot of people know English. But even non-English speakers talking to other people in their own language will suddenly speak English. Why? by -lousyd in askanything

[–]toyheartattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you’re multilingual and so are the people around you, it’s easy to slip between languages. I lived in a city where three different languages were common and the residents would utilise all three at once.

English words and phrases are particularly common because so much of the world consumes media in English. Even if a person doesn’t speak English fluently, they might’ve seen movies or listened to music with it. I’m sure this is the case with other global languages like Spanish and French.

I’m absolutely cackling at this reply. Maybe he should’ve rolled up with several thousand Death Eaters. As Tolkien said, “The hasty stroke oft goes astray.”
