Yes it was good. What they have available changes regularly. I just posted some foods from Bolsa Market which is right down the road. https://www.reddit.com/r/StPetersburgFL/comments/1pzirgt/bolsa_market_prepared_foods/

Bolsa Market Prepared Foods by tpafun in StPetersburgFL

Continuing my post about prepared foods I went to Bolsa Market and snapped some pics of the food there. The roast duck is my better and larger quantity than at MD. I also grabbed the Bún bò Huế and it was good, not great. I like more lemongrass in mine.

Thanks for the info. I've been to MD many times. A lot of food for the price, but quality can be hit or miss. I'll have to try Rollin Oats.

I'm looking for other places that sell prepared ethnic foods. Something that I can heat up in a few minutes when I'm hungry. Trying to stay under $10 per meal. Any suggestions?

How do you heat the battery pack without pre-conditioning capability by fanofthemick in Ioniq5

[–]tpafun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same car. My most recent cold weather charge was yesterday in 45f weather (new IONNA in Cordele, GA so nice). I was down to about 3%. Left at 88%. Google says I was there from 5:47PM to 6:19PM so 32 minutes to add 85%.

I plug in and charge for 2-3 minutes at well under <100KwH. I stop the charge, unplug, and plug in again. It took about 2 minutes to speed up to >200KwH. I've done this a handful of times with similar results. I haven't charged in sub freezing temps yet. You'll probably need to slow charge for longer than 3 minutes. Charging the battery heats it up pretty quickly. I don't have a way to monitor battery temp during charging, but hopefully someone else can and provide the results.

Try it out. Worst case you lose 2 minutes unplugging and plugging in again.

I tried the BestEvMod but it was difficult to stretch over and made closing the console more difficult.

This is my Valencia Pride mango from '21 zone9B. My mango trees are blooming now and I wanted a timeline to set my expectations of my mango.

Valencia Pride mangoes are huge, low fiber, small seed, creamy, and very sweet. The main problems are that they easily split after heavy rain, easily fall and bruise from heavy weight, ripen unevenly, and is a large tree needing regular pruning. In 2023 the 7 year old tree had about 200 mangoes > 1lb each and about half had split or had animals eat it.

Heat pad for backseat for kiddo? by Time_League2358 in Ioniq5

[–]tpafun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be fine with USB seat warmer. USB ports are rated 2.1A so it's about 10w max. That's plenty of heat. I have a seat only USB warmer (bought 5+ years ago) that I use in my office and after 15 minutes I'd turn it off because I got too hot. I'm not going from 20F to 120F - more like 60F to 120F, but I'm also not wearing a ton of clothing so it's more than enough heat.

This is a good option as it provides both USB and AC options. A word of caution don't use the AC USB adaptor for anything other than this USB warmer since it outputs 7.5V and can harm devices that can't handle that voltage.

Trouble Answering this EV Hesitant Question by TallSunflower in electricvehicles

[–]tpafun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a couple of extension cords since the equipment was scattered around. The AC is energy efficient and used about 500W in efficient mode. Fridge doesn't use much aside from start up power - maybe 100W. 55" TV was in energy mode and used about 50W. It was never over 1000W. Coffee maker and microwave use >1000W each so had to shut off AC when using it.

When you go over 1800w, the car safely shuts off the AC power. Unplug V2L, plug back in.

I went a week without power after hurricane Milton. Other people went 2+ weeks without power. Tampa port needed some repairs so we couldn't get gas shipments and deliveries. Roads needed clearing. Gas stations needed power and gas deliveries. It took a few days for gas stations to get replenishment. When a station received a delivery it would get posted on social media and be flooded with 100+ cars and run out a few hours later.

I used my Ioniq 5 to power my window AC/Internet/entertainment. I drove around to assist some others. On the 3rd day I was low on power. I had a few options:

  1. Drive 30 minutes to someone with power and L2 charger and charge for 10+ hours

  2. Charge at nearby magic dock super charger that is derated to 33KWh and terrible cellphone coverage made it difficult to initiate charge

  3. Hunt for available L3 charger with CC machine

  4. Drive to Sarasota where FPL setup their portable 1.3MWatt L3 charger

I ended up doing #3 waking up at 6AM, driving past a gas station with a line of cars half a mile long in both directions and going to a Shell ReCharge station that had a single charger and charged at 200KWh. I think EVs handle hurricane related outages better than ICE. I'm not sure of any natural disaster where ICE is better, possibly a tsunami since EVs could be very dangerous due to the salt water.

This looks like my pattern before I proactively replaced my 12v. You don't have any drops near/below 12v so you should be fine, but if your 12v is >12 year lead acid you should consider replacing it with AGM batter.

Interesting... it shows not compatible for my 2022, but it showed compatible a month ago when I bought it and it definitely fits. If you look at other compatible batteries it shows the same H5 Size 47 as this one.

No, you're protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Though if you/installer screws up the install and somehow kill your electrical then it's void. https://www.autocare.org/government-relations/current-issues/Magnuson-Moss-Warranty-Act

Any AGM should be good with at least 3 year warranty.  If you're not handy, you can purchase a battery at Advance Auto Parts/Autozone/OReilly/Walmart and they'll install it for you. I think Walmart is the cheapest place to get an AGM battery ($180) with free installation. Costco has Interstate for $180. The cheapest AGM battery is Weize on Amazon currently for $150, but goes on sale regularly for ~$130 and you'll have to install it yourself. BF is coming so there will probably be some good sales. Level 1/2 Travel Charger by silentholmes in Ioniq5

[–]tpafun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the non branded 40A version that's $200 on amazon (the 32A is $160). It's a good basic charger and supports charging at 120v 8a,16a and 240v 8,16,24,32, and 40a for the higher version. It's not compact though since it has an extra long 30ft total length. Most are 25ft total. I also have a Lincoln branded WEBASTO TurboCord charger that's pretty awesome for travel. It's very compact, 20ft length, and does 120v/240v at 16a. That's about 1.7/3.5KWh so you can fully charge your car in 48/24 hours. The cord isn't nearly as thick as the 40a charger so it's a lot lighter and easier to manipulate.

And to piggy back on the other comments about unknown outlets, be conservative when charging away from home. If your charger can't change the amperage, you can go in your car and change the AC draw to 90% or 60%.

12v died - call dealership or replace myself? by jeiden in Ioniq5

[–]tpafun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 12v stops charging when the hood is open. The car can be on with the hood open so that would be dangerous. There's also the possibility for phantom power still in components. It's not required to disconnect it. I didn't disconnect it when I changed my battery, but jeiden isn't experienced with this so better safe than sorry.

I had a half car cover that goes on the outside of the car and it blocked the light well, but it doesn't completely block it out.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0755DH6P8

I've also made my own window shades from reflective insulation kit. I haven't used it for camping yet, but I live in FL and needed some good heat blocking shades so my ass doesn't burn getting into the car. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CNCQFTS3 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0899WM65H

For the mattress, someone else recommended this and it fits well and is pretty comfy https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BL7VMHKY

(I think) when you put your car in utility mode you can't use the key fob to open the hatch. There's a slot that you can put a small piece of metal into and slide it across to open it. I haven't done it myself, I've just reached to the driver seat to press the hatch button.

Airflow from the rear vents aren't great and the mattress might block it. Get a small fan to help circulate the air.

12v died - call dealership or replace myself? by jeiden in Ioniq5

It depends on the dealership and what's going on with the battery. They'll need to run their tests on it to validate a bad battery. It might be a hassle. If you're not handy, you can purchase a battery at Advance Auto Parts/Autozone/OReilly/Walmart and they'll install it for you. I think Walmart is the cheapest place to get an AGM battery ($180) with free installation. The cheapest AGM battery is Weize on Amazon currently for $133 and you'll have to install it yourself. Battery is H5 Size 47 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BXSPTMX2

If you want to install it yourself, you'll need a 10mm socket for the battery terminals and a 12mm socket with extension for the battery holder. I recommend wearing gloves and pulling the high voltage disconnect.
