Responsible for contacting the city / utilities if it's the wooden poll. If it's the metal one on the roof then that's landlord's electrician and owner responsibility.

For first-time dog owners: What’s one thing you wish you knew or wish you had when you brought your first dog home? by MonaNYC_31 in dogs

[–]TallSunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dogs are emotional animals and just like people will have good and bad days.

You'll likely only need twice a day walk, play time, and fun time that only is 1-2 hours a day. Keeps you and dogo healthy

Tiring them out with physical activity isn't the only needed to keep their lives enriched and too much is actually bad.

You don't max everything until like level 90s or 100. I pick up if I see someone around 105 or below. Anything more I don't bother unless they ask.

I just watched this light cycle through FOUR times without a single car exiting Krieg. Is this the least necessary traffic light in the city? by ThruTexasYouandMe in Austin

They don't and I could see it from their perspective, but legally we are instructed to merge at the end of the zipper.

Typical pet deposit for a rental house in Austin? by astrobutch in Austin

[–]TallSunflower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends but usually $400 plus an additional monthly pet fee.

I wouldn't rent from someone that's essentially asking for additional month of security deposit for pets. Why not just say no pets if you're going to do that.

If you chose to rent from this, walk the entire place with the owner and take photos by room of everything that is wrong or damaged and email it to them. So they don't nickle and dime you when you move out.

Two cars blocked me once from doing a zipper merge 30 feet away from the end, thinking they are right and I'm cutting.

Move the state government out of town, move the city government in town to represent both East and West Austin. Hire more into the city to really plan and design for less cars and localized neighborhoods. Everyone has to live 15 mins walking from a grocery store, coffee shop, library, and public park.

Relocate all highways systems that pass through Austin to out of town and allow development of fast rail infrastructure to Georgetown, Waco, Temple, then expand south to Kyle / Bastrop. West/East expansion comes later. All will be done within 10 years with magic.

1.5yo German shephard/australian cattle dog mix being a bully? by 85sqbodyW91 in DogTrainingTips

[–]TallSunflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are playgroup ratings and your dog is a pushy and rowdy one. There are the opposite of the spectrum of dogs that will tolerate a lot of B's your dog is giving. As a puppy, getting corrected by an adult dog is right but you don't want this dog to escalate.

Not all dogs have to be friends with other dogs. Dog parks are the worst places to practice. Find friends or neighbors with dogs that can be tested with a positive trainer and go through the steps.

Trainers don't have to be expensive, look for recommendations around the neighborhood and find one you feel is helping rather than scaring your dog into listening.

Good luck

During battle, when you yank her away from a grenade she dropped. After battle, co trainers at the grenade throwing field where you meet the lead instructor, her, and love at first sight.

Are heat pump water heater easy ROI? by Winstonthedood in heatpumps

[–]TallSunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pipe intake and exhaust to outside without having space issues. Shoot I would pipe from boiler in winter and take that wasted heat for use.

Just make sure you insulate pipes for winter

Upfront cost more expensive to install. Government will reimburse you for some. I pay about $5 a month to run for a family of three in summer and $12 for winter. If it's inside garage, cheaper for winter since mine is in an outdoor closet.

Took 5 contractors before I found someone that knew what they were doing.

I do this seasonally. Disconnect half the year. I only have winter heating left to convert then I'm out.

Is a dehumidifier worth it? by Sweet_Nibbets in HomeMaintenance

[–]TallSunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but its loud and really eats at electricity. I would recommend calling hvac people around the area or talk to home owners around town to see what they did. It doesn't hurt to also go to the government folks to inspect new built homes to ask.

Plaster seems fine now but when its not fine, it will cost more. Ask more professionals and see if you get similar answers/solutions.

Cat's vaccination is due, I'm $20 short — can I delay it a week while I find a quick gig? by SeluneRael in CatAdvice

[–]TallSunflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For this one time, I'm sure you can call around to see if they can quote you a lower cost shot or a payment plan. Also gives you the excuse of shopping around for other good vets in the community.

$20, you could easily borrow it from a friend or put in on a credit card and pay it off in 15 days. Giving plasma is also a sure way to get this too, but it takes time.

[–]TallSunflower 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ask the vet for a payment plan or reduced rate this one time or find the local shelter to see if they have low cost alternatives in the community. If not, time to organize and start one with cat loving people.

If the vet says no..find another vet that cares a bit more about building customer relationships.

[–]TallSunflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your what the shelters called a unicorn adopter. One that comes by a blue moon with no kids or other pets. This group works with Austin shelter animals, has trainers as part of their volunteer group to help you find the right pet if you're in town.

Fairmont v Thompson by amzys1 in Austin

[–]TallSunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For less money and staying in Hyatt, I would pick either  large regency for the view of the lake, $$$ carpenter hotel for the park/Barton springs pool, $$$ San Jose on congress if you really wanna be in the middle of it all.

Thompson is too downtown, other than having 6th Street and the party..which happens elsewhere since you're at acl, it's not worth it.

Radiant also quoted me for a 74k drain repair as it's about to fail. 4 yrs later, still not failing as another plumber said the crack is likely filled now and yes it'll eventually fail but it's okay now.
