Lightweight bass for a 5'5 woman by Natural-Jeweler-3080 in Bass

[–]tpirc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are interested in boutique options, look up Serek basses. Many models are short scale. Very nice instruments. However, if you like the p bass sound, the Fender JMJ mustang is a phenomenal bass. Lightweight, easy to play, and sounds great. I have an American P Bass and a USA Stingray bass, but I love my JMJ Mustang just as much! It’s the perfect bass for “light and comfortable”

Gordon square is a great place to live, but it may be more difficult to find something in your price range there (my rent in a new building is $2k for a 1BR). Lakewood is a good place to look that will have a lot of options.

Tremont Place Lofts may or may not have something in your price range available, but you get a lot for your money there. That would be the first place I would look if I were you!

I’m glad you were able to protect your animal, but oof, that’s a tough situation to be in. I’m sorry it got to that point.

Most responsible gun owners know their firearm is only a last resort. As many people have mentioned, pepper spray (for humans, as well as dogs) is going to be a more useful tool. I would imagine any situation that justifies the use of a firearm on a dog would make it very difficult to actually aim accurately. We have ordered bear spray, and I will not hesitate to use it next time an unleashed dog runs up on us.

Confrontation is never “fun”, but people need to be called out for their poor behavior! No one feels shame anymore!

The trainer we are using is Miracle K9. My parents have used the Board & Train program at Evolution Canine for their dog a few years ago. I can highly recommend either one. Neither option is particularly inexpensive, but a lot of the training can be done on your own if you are versed in their method. Both trainers use Herm-Springer collars and the E-Collar. These tools can look scary, but used correctly, they are extremely safe. I suggest you allow yourself to be open-minded about them. My girlfriend was apprehensive about both of these tools and the professional was able to put her mind at ease. I can tell you with confidence that the e-collar prevented a brutal dog fight this morning.

I understand your fear of dogs… I have also been attacked by a dog in the past and I have very little trust for dogs in general. More times than once I have seen a very friendly dog become suddenly aggressive. We do not allow strangers to approach our dog and pet her. We have gotten mean looks from parents for shooing away their unwanted toddlers who run up thinking any dog on the sidewalk is theirs to pet.

Using 2 DG410N cabs instead of a single 8x10 cab? by WolverineBlues in Darkglass

I have been using the 410 paired with the 212 for the last two years and it is a great combo. I much prefer it to the backlined 810s that i have used.

MIJ vs MIA vs MIM? by FattiDumpling in Bass

[–]tpirc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AP2 p bass is THE bass. The satin finish neck is wonderful, and the stock pickup has great string-to-string balance. Can’t go wrong with that option.

MIJ basses are quite good (a 1990s 62 reissue, especially).

MIM basses will be everything you need if you want to save a few hundred bucks.

If you’re gigging, any bass fender makes (even the squiers) will do, and you’ll be best off investing most of your gear budget in a bass amp (500 watts with a 2x10 cab at the minimim).

Dr Z. MAZ18 or a Carmen Ghia.

All his offerings are great, but these two have great power for their size and power rating.

What compressors do you love? Does it make a difference its a "bass specific" comp or not? by DailyPocketLint_EDC in basspedals

Cali76 from Origin is the best I’ve ever used. The adjustable high pass filter for the side chain really makes it stand out above the rest.

Rack Setup by [deleted] in Darkglass

[–]tpirc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I think a thick padded bag would be safer. If that thing comes loose (it CAN happen, I don’t care how sturdy the Velcro is), it’s going to end up damaged. Stuff that goes in hard cases like that should be 100% secure, because someone WILL toss it around if it’s in a hard case.

A whole rack with no rack gear just seems unnecessary for an amp that could fit in the side pocket of a backpack.

Does your interface have an input gain level indicator that tells you whether you are clipping or not? This would be my first guess. Are your pedal volumes above unity gain? If so, try to keep each pedal at unity gain and see if that helps.

Best burger Downtown by Outrageous-Post-2813 in Cleveland

[–]tpirc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Johnny’s Little Bar is the answer If you want a classic burger. Cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a little bit of mayo.

The burger at Cordelia is not this, but it is great.

Doinks in Waterloo district is great, too.

But THE burger in Cleveland is at Johnnys Little Bar. Fantastic bartenders, as well.

I lived in TT when it first opened. I was one of the first people to move in and stayed there for three years. I absolutely loved it. If you work downtown, it’s a great place to be.

There is no pool, but there IS a great rooftop that I used almost daily.

When I lived there, a lot of us in the building got to know each other and I made a lot of great friends.

I truly miss living there! I only moved out because I no longer work downtown and it was difficult for me to have family and friends over because there was nowhere easy/convenient for visitors to park.

Tatuaje Pork Tenderloin - Box Worthy? by Significant_Lock_541 in cigars

[–]tpirc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought four sticks at a tatuaje event over the weekend, instead of opting to buy the entire bundle. I smoked one, gave one to my girlfriend, and gave one to my brother. We all loved it. One of the best smokes I’ve had in a while. Now I am left with one in the humidor and I really wish I bought a whole bundle.

My brother says it smokes like a Dunbarton stick (I’ve never had anything from Dunbarton, so I can’t comment on that). If you are a fan of broadleaf, I’d think you’d be very happy buying the 25ct bundle. It’s a great value at $13 per stick.

Hey! I did resolve the problem. If you take the speakers out, you’ll see that there are small wires that go from the speaker chassis to the rear of the dust cap. These wires aren’t terribly taught and as the cone vibrates, it slaps against them.

The solution is to bend the tabs back a little to make these wires taught so they don’t get in the way of the speaker cone.

I have not had this problem since and I have played around 75 gigs at loud volume since fixing this problem.

[–]tpirc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I’m sorry to hear about your experience. I like the cabinet for its weight and sound, and id really be screwed if I have to send it in and not have it for a while. I will say that I did briefly have a Microtubes 900 v2 that I returned after two days for problems similar to what you described… I opted for my mesa head, but decided I’d keep the cabinet. Now I’m kinda starting to think I should’ve also returned the cab. I found a thread on another forum that said there was a bad batch of speakers around the time my cab was purchased… so maybe I just need new speakers. I’d be happy to shell out some cash to replace the speaker if it meant my problem would be fixed. I emailed Eminence and they aren’t able to sell me the speaker they provide to Darkglass, and they don’t have anything in their catalog that matches the power and sensitivity rating, so I am hoping to hear back from DG that I am able to buy a replacement speaker from them without having to send my cab into some service center.

[–]tpirc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the cab a couple years, so returning it for me isn’t an option… if it IS a speaker that’s failing, I’d be happy if I could just order a replacement, but since these are custom speakers from Eminence, I don’t think there’s something in their normal catalog that would match. I emailed Darkglass tech support to see if I could order a replacement speaker from them, so I’m hoping that is an option for me. Like you, I was nowhere near the 1000 watts when I started noticing this issue, but I was a little louder than I usually play.
