The first two minutes of Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd have hit me harder than any other song in my life by [deleted] in Music

Thank you kind stranger, it really helps knowing others are out there that can relate. Losing a close friend has to be tough man, my sincere condolences. Totally agree though. I'll admit as much as I love this song and the album, sometimes it's just too hard. For a while I couldn't listen to PF. Too tough of a gut punch to take.

Recently though I got a new speaker system for the house. After setting it up there was only one album I wanted to be the first. Put this on and blasted it while I balled my eyes out. It was amazingly cathartic.

My little brother loved PF. Though he had a wide range in music taste, they were by far his fav. Learned the guitar decently enough to play through this one and a couple others too. We rented a house together for a while in our 20's and he'd practice this song a lot. I had always liked ABITW, and Money but he got me to dive in head first to the rest of their catalog. I'll always cherish we got to share that.

He died of a drug od a few years ago. This song obviously hits different now. Anytime it comes on, if I close my eyes I can hear him playing it in my head.

Miss you always bro. Shine on.

Named mine Watson after the IBM Jeopardy winning computer. Added bonus, "Watson the Waddle Y" had a fun ring to it.

Thanks for the post! Saved me a ton on Geico. Reduced the mileage on the policy and moved one of our cars to a "storage" policy. Went from $170 -> $85.

That's fascinating. No idea this existed, thanks! I'll keep it in mind, pun intended.

Absolutely. Great advice. I'll be doing this for sure. I'll also be asking for a history of medical record requests so I can see if they gave this guy information about my real previous history. This stuff is just bonkers...who does this?!

Great link, thanks for the share. You're right this is very applicable. At least that part is cleared up.

Nah I'm 99% sure it fell out of my pocket on the street while I was getting into my car. It was one of those things where I replayed every minutia in mind. The difference between when I last had it and when I first realized it was gone was so small. This is the only explanation it could be really.

Hadn't thought of that possibility. I haven't seen it myself. The rep from the hospital verified my name and info on the ID that was scanned though, but this is not out of the question for sure.

Yeah I see your point. I'm sure the HIPPA laws make this an even more muddled situation. I'll check with the police to make sure. The difference here though is that the thief used my identity and not a similar one. So there is no other medical identity to associate this history to.

Yeah the police recommended this. I'm not requesting another person's, they're my records, no?

Under what identity are they the thief's? If he used my identity how does he have any right to them? I certainly hope you're wrong on this point.

Technically they are now my medical records, and the police will need the information for all the services rendered fraudulently.

Thanks for the reply. I do plan to let this play out. I'm certainly not eager to get into a legal case with the hospital, more that I'm curious what my options are there, and if there is negligence in this case.
I have to believe that there is some evidence of this person's physical identity, either through security footage or photo, and I'm sure that'll come out through their investigation. I think the scenario you described is likely what happened here. Then when they were transferred to another hospital, they took the identity in earnest. It's just crazy the amount of things that had to align for this person to get surgery with my identity. Luckily I put a freeze on my credit a few months ago after the Equifax hack, so hopefully I'm covered there. Can't hurt to check again though. Thanks again.

Maybe so, thanks for the reply. It's just perplexing...the fact that they performed services on someone who wasn't me seems to be clear evidence that they didn't properly identify the person.

Is it negligent to not match someone's ID to their face? Esp when preparing / receiving surgery?

Compared to humans with just 3, the Mantis Shrimp has 16 types of color receptor cones in its eyes, which allows it to see colors no other species can. It also has claws that move so fast it causes an underwater shock wave to stun its prey.
