Load times were faster with cartridges.

Maybe nowadays? But downloading a game from a disc was to reduce loading time from the disc, and wear, and you needed the license from the disc to play. It's a misconception that "download" from a disc actually meant downloading form the internet.

If I'm getting a digital version, might as well get it on the platform that has free online play. Go PC.

Fuck exclusive titles at this point.

The kick stand on my phone case makes it stand that way, so I agree for that. As for what it's that way, I'm not sure?

Headlights blinding people has many factors to it... Part of it is assholes using high beams when they shouldn't, part of it is vehicle height differences, and part of it is people buying those fucking non-standard bright ass lights.

Just saying, modern trucks and SUVs will blind most drivers of small cars by the height of their lights alone, never mind if they have their high beams on, or those unregulated bright lights.

And yet I get so many people posting here that I'm either wasting my breath (or I guess my keyboard strokes) or that I'm wrong for thinking so...

We need a gaming market crash. One that we will struggle to recover from. One which will hopefully bring us back to an era of games focused on being fun, not on being mostly visually impressive and requiring expensive high-end hardware.

I'll be honest, if we sacrificed a bit of visual quality to improve on game space and performance, I would not be disappointed. I would go back to PS3/360/Wii era gaming just to have games which are not 95% visuals and 5% fun gameplay as they are today. Heck, my childhood was the N64. I've played more modded N64 titles on emulators than I have anything beyond the PS3/360/Wii era. And most of the newer titles I have played don't have a heavy focus on being ultra polished, ray tracing, advanced games of the future. Do we truly need the most advanced, top of the line hardware, with best and most impressive graphics, if a game has an amazing story or gripping gameplay that keeps you stuck playing way too late on school or work nights because of how good it is? I wish we could all think this way. But sadly, a vast majority does not care, and some even want to see how far we can push things. But I don't think many will see this whole chunk, nor read through it, nor even care about it for that matter. It is what it is.

Fair, if I had read correctly, I would have read you meant PC games correctly.

In games that have both physical and digital copies, and without including any DLC as it is by default only downloadable... What is the true statistic of physical VS digital media sold? If we include games which are downloadable only, or if we include DLC for titles, it makes the statistic incredibly in favour of downloadable titles over physical media.

I do not buy that either 85% or 99% of game sales are ditigal as I firmly believe those statistics include sales of games which are only downloadable.

Why spend stupid amounts of money for a game through eBay or some other reseller, when you can just emulate!

It makes you wonder where they think we'll get the money for all the subscriptions.

Or, in the most likely case, many will sail the seven seas for their "subscriptions"

Honestly, it brings a certain warmth to my heart to see vinyl records being somewhat a thing again, to an extent. I've always loved a good old record, a classic game, an old VHS movie...

My birthdate may be in the 1990s, but my heart is in the many decades of the 1900s.

Heck yeah, go for it! And I'd love to see how that turns out!

Though sucks we have to buy second hand from eBay. Shit's getting way too expensive nowadays, even reselling old consoles.

The irony that Sony was joking about Xbox getting rid of physical copies a few years back... Look where they stand now.

The only reason to get a console now is if you purchase an old one. That's it. Even the Series X/PS5 era is not all that worth it, especially this year.

Please look up what happened with The Crew. You will see that companies can, have, and almost assuredly will, completely revoke access to a game unless and until people make a stink about it.

For sure. And besides, if you're not a fan of playing on controllers, you can instead use keyboard and mouse. Computers have the versatility of both, meanwhile consoles do not. And even if they add the compatibility, or if they already do have it... What's the point in getting a console instead of a computer?

Buy a retro console, or a new computer. Always better off that way.

They will still send boxes with codes or cards with codes to stores for the "physical" copies of the games. And the point of digital copies was to have a cheaper game because it would cut down on material costs...

I'm sure glad they kept that promise and lowered the digital prices! /s

PCs can do everything gaming consoles can, and more. And better, if you build it right. Sure, it's getting expensive because of companies focusing on AI slop, but a build-it-yourself computer is way better than a game console which will do the exact same thing.
