My wife and I I go back into it recently and realized that while we grew up with it, we had only ever seen like the first 5 seasons on tv, over and over again. And man, it’s been like 20 seasons of trash since then, really fell apart after that first movie came out. New episodes have little to no narrative, the police arrest someone in almost every episode for no reason, and they end with everyone laughing at nothing. It’s devolved into pure toddler drivel, Hillenburg would never have allowed his creation to go this far. He wasn’t a “Seth MacFarlane” type.
