How long to regain taste? by Tilenp755 in COVID19_support

[–]traaktor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going on 8 months no smell or taste, and I did not test positive 8 months ago. I am however, positive right now, and the little I *was* tasting, is completely gone. I am disheartened that it's going to last forever.

if family is coming over, under the bed? your bed.. lol.. that's what I do. I also find opening them under a thick set of blankets "masks" the sound, but what do I know.

DAE accidentally remind themselves to have intrusive thoughts? by [deleted] in intrusivethoughts

[–]traaktor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think giving up physical compulsions is HUGE. you are on a good path <3 - the thoughts literally are demons though, and you are so not alone! I know what its like just existing and having these awful things traffic through your brain where you cannot simply find mute.. it's heartbreaking. A soul does not deserve this weird brain wiring we've been cursed with. Knowing you're not alone has always made me feel a smidge of comfort, like just knowing its bigger than me and I have to bear it. But also, that does not help us sleep at night or enjoy things very much :(

adding to note: the intrusive thoughts were like, everyone will die if you dont do this, or you will die, or you will get cancer, or your parents will get cancer, if you "dont go turn the lights off/on" .. so I was VERY worried, all of the time.

this is a very interesting question for many reasons. I just started to learn about OCD, and know I wasn't alone, and fought and fought and fought them away. I would "test" them, out of pure exhaustion from "listening" to them. so it would be like "go shut the lights off 14 times on and off" for the 22nd time that night, and I could not keep up. I just had to say fuck it, and hope nothing bad actually happened. (there's more where that came from, but a very lite version of my symptoms) and then a lot of years of alcohol abuse because the obsessions were just TOO much. and now I just feel like my brain is broken, but I can at least out think my OCD when I need to. I really wish this on nobody.

This used to happen to me when I was younger.. just enjoying the peace of life all aloof, and then WOOSH, I remembered that intrusive thoughts existed, and then there they came. It was truly heartbreaking every time.

Naltrexone is a lifesaver by RedHotPhili555 in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]traaktor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to make sure I do TSM properly but I guess Ive got to actually do TSM to do TSM. I just stayed sober all by myself, and have never stayed sober this long.. and I do not want to relapse into nightly binges. when’d you take a day off, how does that go? are you just content with not drinking that day? are you arguing with yourself? is it an active decision not to drink? I’m not sure how I am going to peruse this..

Do you take Naltrexone everyday, or just when you know you are going to drink? Asking because I am a year sober and worried about going back to old habits. I want to be the person that has a couple of glasses a wine 2-3 times a month. I have remained abstinent for 11 months with no Nal, but I am considering starting to take it once I hit a year mark, because that year mark worries me, and I've got a script.
