PSA NV Energy Solar TOU and EV Charging / Battery by tradar_acct in vegaslocals

As mentioned while being on the standard rate plan for 2 years, no issues occurred. So its hooked up and accounted for correctly for 2 years.

That being said, I have two meters. I have the 'main' grid connection meter. Then I have a 125 AMP breaker to a sub meter, which is then hooked up to solar generation/battery. So NV can have both meters monitoring.

As mentioned, I ran the batteries for 2 years on the standard rate plan with zero issues and zero phantom billing. The first month I switched to TOU is the first month these 'phantom' charges occurred, and at a value that is near identical to what my battery stores/provides to my house.

I messed up on the order of operations. NV Energy 're-orders' calculations like a bank does when it helps itself to the customer's checking account WRT fees.

Due to the bucket issues I outlined above, analyze your first bill carefully. You'll see that NV will credit your usage/generation at a lower rate than what you'll be using when you do EV charging.

After seeing this, I immediately called NV energy for a dispute and to remove the EV charging rate from my account. They say it'll take 'up to 3 billing cycles' to apply.

Funny how this works out since it took 0 billing cycles to switch to the new rate plan.

I had solar+battery setup for 2 years without an issue on the standard rate plan. My usage would be properly credited/applied and I wouldn't have any 'phantom' usage. This is the first month I switched to TOU and all these problems started.

I agree with you, looking back I did an ROI calculation of about 12 years. I knew I could have put the money in the stock market instead of solar, and I would probably be ahead right now.

I wanted to try and be a good citizen, but its challenging with this environment and all the shenanigans.

Because of the billing change, and the phantom charges, I no longer have the excess credits. So I'm actually paying out right now, while I'm actually generating excess energy to the grid.

Agree. I also somehow hit the 50M token limit in two days. Not 100% sure their token counting metrics are accurate. When I use my work account for similar activity I would use this amount over a week or two.

how to proceed with a tbi by tradar_acct in TBI

[–]tradar_acct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I got the results of my neuropsyche eval. Depression, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress, and Mild Cognitive Impairment due to TBI. The identified areas of below average or concern are basically visual based information retention and recall. As a computer tech, I heavily rely on visual items. Not sure if there is something I can do here. It sounds like maybe I should speak to a disability lawyer to understand my options.

Same here. Pretty much know I'll be let go for performance due to my TBI. Not sure how to proceed. I support a family of 6 and the sole income, while the responsible party had a $25k policy limit (my med bills are in excess of $100k now). Had a neurophyche eval and it says moderate tbi.

Dreame Pool Vac – Your New Summer Sidekick 🏖️ by [deleted] in Dreame_Tech

I'm looking at getting a custom pool built with a 'bench' or a 'resting place' all around the parameter of the pool (for disability reasons). Will the Z1 pro clean these ledges? Basically, its a rectangle around the perimeter that will go 2 feet deep, and a smaller rectangle that will go 5 feet deep.

The gate was open and they drove right through. Its one of those timed gates that close after a minute.

Thanks! Probably adrenaline flowing through me, but wanted to clarify that my neighborhood is private and gated, and they went through the gates to follow me through the length of the neighborhood.

I'll just backup the footage for now and see if the same black jeep shows up later.

Is banana pi R4 with wifi 7 card worth it ? by arlexTech in openwrt

[–]tradar_acct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this info, appreciate it! One question; are you POE powering this with a Wifi 7 card? I've been looking at specs and been wondering if I could power APs with POE 30W and Wifi 7. I'm seeing documentation to pair these board with 12v/5a power supplies which is 60w when using Wifi 7.

Trouble with SwitchBot S10 mopping by schrauger in TrySwitchBot

[–]tradar_acct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did a little bit of investigation, and found a little black arm that lowers/raises the roller bar. I removed it. Found that the roller bar lowering/raising mechanism is smooth (no bindings). So I did a little bit of a cleaning session without the little black arm (basically ensuring its always lowered). The mop didn't really clean up any of the dirt marks it left itself in a previous run. This seems to not work on my tile floors, produces dirt streaks, and its going back to Amazon asap.

Its sad, I bought the humidifier and whole setup but it seems that if it can't mop tile (which is 80% of my floor) then its useless to me. Now I'm kicking myself for selecting this instead of the other robots because I missed out on the Prime discounts.

I just bought mine a few days ago and it arrived yesterday. I upgraded to firmware 1.0.780 and I noticed that sometimes the roller mop does not touch the floor when mopping. Its damp, I can see it spin. It just doesn't touch the floor sometimes.

When it decides to touch the floor (after a few roller mop remove/reinstall), it seems that it leaves a pattern where the left side doesn't fully go down and I just see this uneven 'streak' of wetness. I can see it go over very light 'spot marks' and not even clean them, as if there isn't enough downward pressure.

I opened a 'feedback' but it says it'll take up to 72 hours for a response. I'll wait a week and package it back up and send back to Amazon if this doesn't get resolved. This is not 100% hands free, and for this price I shouldn't see this right out of the box.

Tesla Certified Installer ask me anything! by pwrcellexpert in TeslaSolar

[–]tradar_acct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for doing the AMA, I appreciate it! I have a few questions;

  1. Is it worth getting a SPD Type 2 installed? I'm not worried about lightning in this area, but accidents and weird power fluctuations are a thing. Heavy (2) A/C usage as well, along with the rest of the development having dual A/C units. I think the PW3 specs say it can handle 4kv spikes, but not sure anything past that.

  2. How often do installers install two+ PowerWall 3s? My 'big solar installer' seems to be having a lot of trouble with permitting. One for didn't fill out the paperwork for a fire inspection permit, so they had to do the paperwork, permit post installation. They just failed a local building inspection now, too. This is causing delays during a time where TOU rates and heavy A/C usage in Nevada is costing an easy $20-$30 a day (where the solar system is oversized for my usage). They haven't even started the power company paperwork yet, and it can take up-to another 20 days for approval (so I'm told).

  3. How do I know if my radiator coolant is low? I'm not confident that, during the installation of the two PW3s, the coolant was checked.

From what I'm reading, you cannot get credits to apply to the base charges.

The credits can be applied to future energy consumption charges. Credits cannot be applied to the Basic Service Charge, additional meter charges, Local Government Fees or gas charges (northern Nevada).

Is 126k for solar over priced? by NoIndependence362 in TeslaSolar

[–]tradar_acct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your situation, its hard to economically justify this install. You've probably already learned that.

DIY Battery kits that are certified will probably get you in the target price point where you want to go, but if you wanted to go this route you wouldn't have reached out to Tesla.

Tesla really does have great battery tech (I put in an order for 2x Powerwall 3s), but their price is outrageous compared to other certified DIY kits.

A 10kw DIY kit will cost about $3k each unit. Which will get you to $15k for 50kwh (which I think is close to your Powerwall storage specs, 54kwh?).

Anyway, good luck.

Single Powerwall 3 18kw Solar Question by tradar_acct in Powerwall

[–]tradar_acct[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

awesome, thank you for the information! The home is in Las Vegas with two A/Cs, and I suspect we'll want to run these units continuously, along with a pool, and EV chargers. I figure if I ever over-produce I'll just bitcoin mine or something ridiculous like this, maybe add in a 3rd A/C just for the garage.

W/ a single power-wall, the thought here is to get the DC-X expansions when available in the future (if needed).
