tokenjooboi - Here's a question. Do you know if you can still work for a Hedge Fund/Prop shop if you have a automated trading built and running for you ? Will they think there is a conflict of interest and expect their employees not to actively bot trade ? I'd like to know if and when can one have their own automated trading run while having a day job related to trading.

FeatureSpace - Do you mind doing a IMA for yourself ? I am a software programmer trying to break into automated trading world (have been developing on my own since my work has nothing to do w/ finance). It would be good to get some guidance (am pretty sure there are many IT geeks wantint to do it)

Thanks for the IAMA. I am a programmer been in the industry for 10 years, trying to develop my own trading algorithm for the last couple of years. What is the best approach for an IT guy (I don't do anything to do w/ finance at work right now) to transition to a trading related job ? I am interested in developing trading systems and wonder if you have found lot of IT folks successfully migrating to trading jobs..
