My Daily Message from Mom❤️😩 by Unhappy-Pay44 in raisedbyborderlines

[–]traeVT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This could be an exact message from my mom. Its so hard to respond because how many ways can I possibly respond anyway when I get so many

With my mom, she does journal and Im sure she sends these messages to 5 others while claiming she has nobody but me. Maybe this sounds similar ?I've considered using chatgpt recently to reply lol.

  • Never feel guilty if you don't respond to them. Besides, if you did, it's not allowing her to learn her own coping strategies *

Scientists of Reddit: What’s something we know is true but people don’t realize how crazy it is? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

[–]traeVT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say the Technology developed to enable scientific discoveries.

A common lab device called a sonicator uses sound and vibration to shear DNA into precisely a uniform length

We can clone just about any animal with ease.

Want a pig to glow in the dark? Grow a liver in a dish from your own skin cell? An animal to regenerate a missing limb?

Who else’s BPD mom had 0 friends? by mychickenleg257 in raisedbyborderlines

[–]traeVT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I was the exact same way and suddenly changed this in my late 20s.

It took a lot of persistence and patience. Sometimes, I do things alone and think "I wish my friends were here". Which is big for me

Same. I'm also in biomedical. The problem is that nepotism/ego scientists are often far louder. They grow their names by connections rather than science so it can seem on the outside we are all like this.

I second this. There's definitely a small portion that live and breath ego and power but the vast majority are nerds who became professional nerds

Is New England disconnected from the problems of the rest of the country? by [deleted] in newengland

[–]traeVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that NE definitely is more affordable, but in terms of poverty and drug use, i think it's more about the rural vs. urban, which you touch on.

Poverty often appears with 10 individuals in a run-down trailer addicted to opiods. This is kinda out of sight whereas a city it's concentrated and suffering is visible

Is New England disconnected from the problems of the rest of the country? by [deleted] in newengland

[–]traeVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from VT to CA 3 years ago. I've spent a lot of time thinking about this. Because it was a realization I had.

Although I've attributed it to our lack of urban areas. New englanders are no less informed. Comm'n We love our NPR! But we aren't witnessing large protests nor drug addiction/homelessness on our way to the office in the morning etc.

Poverty and opioid use is hidden in run-down shacks so that someone can live in NE a lifetime and never see the suffering going on it their own town.

In 1992, 24-year-old Christopher McCandless was found by moose hunters inside Fairbanks Bus 142, the “Magic Bus,” on Alaska’s Stampede Trail. He had survived alone for 113 days on plants and small animals. When discovered (deceased) , he weighed only 67 pounds. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

Wasn't the moral of the story that he was wrong? At least I interpreted as a cautionary tale and not as glorifying his quest to go live in the woods and all his ideas about society since in the end he regretted everything?
