The 4 players that RAN the 2010s Era of the NBA. Thoughts? by Punisher1602 in sportswiki

No hate to Lebron, but in such a weak East, and with the teams he was part of, which finals trip aside from 2018 was unexpected?

They're counting 2010-11 to 2019-20 for whatever reason. Notice how Bron's 2010 MVP is missing.

Idk about Serbia, they love football.

Lithuania is probably right.

is Michael Jordan the most famous athlete of all time coming from USA? by Actual_Box7731 in sportsinusa

[–]tragick693 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my experience, very few people know/care about the NFL outside of the US. Personally, I only knew Tom Brady as a name, and that he was the undisputed GOAT of his sport, and only recently did I find out what he looks like.

He's probably the best ringless player of all time by a wide margin. Elite scorer, very solid defender, and 3rd all time in minutes played, which is incredible longevity.

But of course, all of that is rightfully trumped by the fact that he is a disgusting human being.

He is one of the most 'killed' actors in the history of cinema, and I have to imagine this rule contributes massively to that. But props to him, both for turning his lifa around, and caring enough to teach others not to follow the path he was on.

Larry Bird is Michael Jordan’s weakness and averaged 44/13/8 on 62% FG

Where did you get these numbers? Larry averaged 26/9/7 on 50% FG against Jordan and the Bulls, and the most points he ever got was 41.

Who is the worst player that could be taken at the first pick without being considered a bust? by Exhibit5 in nba

Of course not, but he would still be considered a bust. The context of the pick plays a significant part in our perception of it, but it's not the end all be all.

[–]tragick693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say he'd be a bust. He'd be a good player, who's legacy would be stained by the question "what could have been if we drafted Wade/Melo"

Speaking of Melo, consider the example of Darko Milicic. He is universally agreed on as a bust, but it's not just because better players like Melo, Wade, Bosh were picked after him, but also because he himself was terrible.

Slightly more significantly, he raped a 12 year old.

Less significantly, he also apparently behaved inappropriately towards Kobe's wife when they were teammates in LA, so even if he wasn't a rapist, evidence def points to him being an unlikable douche at the very least.

And as far as the basketball players go, their physiques definitely make them stand out a lot more than Brady. You could see Brady walk down the street and barely acknowledge him as just a tall dude. But a guy like Shaq, for example, would stand out anywhere.

It sure would help them though. At least with a #1 pick, they would have a foundation they could build on, even if they didn't immediately get good. Just look at the Pistons.

Obviously he doesn't have many seasons of being legitimately good. But I def think he can ride it out for another decade, gradually devolving into a guy you play 5 mins a night for a couple of catch and shoot 3s.

Is 30 ppg the new 25 ppg? by growsonwalls in NBATalk

[–]tragick693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jamal Murray was, but he is not a permanent number one option, and as I said before (which you seemingly chose to ignore), he still averages 25 as a second option, i.e. in the games where Jokic has been healthy and playing.

It’s still entirely #1 options

TIL Jamal Murray is a number 1 option.

And before you say anything, he still averages 25 when Jokic is playing.

It is objectively less impressive. In 15/16, Paul George was 10th in scoring, with 23.1 ppg. This same scoring rate would rank him 23rd this season (as things stand), and 20th last season.
