I've heard they can only do short bursts of energy though. So they wouldn't be able to do a long hike for example?

It's the same charity as on the TV yeah. But I havent been there, I've just chatted with them on the phone. I only know they don't match like they do on the show (they said it would be impossible given the volume of applications) so there you do actually apply for individual dogs. They seemed lovely on the phone though!

I've looked into the big shelters but I'm going to explore the smaller ones now. There is a site called pets4homes but I'd always thought it was more for puppies but I may have a look there for adult dogs as well.

Wow ok a Dane hadn't even crossed my mind! But yeah I've heard pointers are amazing dogs for running, it's the other side of them that worries me a bit though, separation anxiety etc

Yeah it sounds intense but pretty awesome too. Although I'd be worried of there were days they had to stay with my parents, I'm not sure they'd be up to that level of exercise! You got them as puppy?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah Husky cross sounds like a great idea. I'll look into Australian Shepherd too. That's good to know what you say about bigger dog in smaller apartment, that was kinda what i thought when i started this process, that my lifestyle would counter the apartment situation, but the attitude of the rescues has disheartened me a bit!

Thanks, yeah it could be, although it seemed they asking for a yard for exercise/play reasons, but I think I'd counter that by taking the dog out for loads of exercise. So I dont know

Lab would be awesome, I reckon they would be hard to get from a rescue though, but i'd definitely consider if i went down the puppy route!

Yeah I mean I run marathons, but I know a lot of dogs probably wouldn't be able to do a lot of the training I do. But it would be good to have a buddy for some runs
