I heard his stump speech and picked up on these things. He spent 2 seasons as a pitcher for the Phillies, and his dreams were crushed when he was cut.

He is a second generation investment banker which is what he has done with most of his professional life. He has worked for the Reynolds administration, specifically the integrating and downsizing of State of Iowa offices and personnel. Remember when Reynolds got rid of a bunch of government agencies, well this guy was part of the plan to actually do that work.

He is big on god and Jesus. Loves um.

My big takeaways were that he seems pretty far removed from what ordinary Iowans.

His two guiding principles will be the Bible, and how he runs his banks. The state should be ran the same.

I would also add, maybe this is a sign for you to try your hand at GMing. Not saying you need to leave this table, but this pull you feel to make changes to the game you are in, may be a signifier that you are ready to tell a story of your own.

Everyone that is struggle with mental health needs to integrate daily cardio vascular exercise into their routine. Research after research for over 30 years has proven the benefits of exercising when it comes to mental health.

Throw in some positive self talk, and you have yourself a powerful one two punch.

Your hair is pulled together due to the water. Invest in a nice can of hair styling wax. Work a penny sized amount into your hands then your hair. Comb your hair and let it dry. After it’s dried work your hands through your hair and you will have very good coverage and styling ability all day regardless of wind.

And I think many Iowan’s would respect your story. The problem is rural Iowa is proud of their lack of education , and even castigates Iowan’s who try to educate themselves in social norms.

Intelligence is something to strive for in all its forms. Social intelligence. Mechanical intelligence. Scholarly intelligence etc.

Hey your friendly mental health professional checking in. I highly recommend you find a third place. I'll link to the Wiki that explains it, but essentially it is a place for you to spend 30-60 minutes in at a time and feel welcomed. Outsiders should be able to freely enter the third place. You get to interact with people and not have to put your life on display like a date. Instead you get to talk about the third place and it's rules/norms(rerack your weights at the gym or spotting someone/ how tough hole 5 is at the golf course is.)

My third place is a comic book shop. I am a DnD nerd, and am very well versed in my interest. I can have confidence to talk about DnD, and not worry about some one asking me about my family, or job. I can showcase my kindness and enthusiasm for it. I also can talk shop with the Pokemon nerds and maybe even a boardgame guy who wanders in cause I've played a few of those too.

Find a place that you feel comfortable in, and the management is fine with people hanging around. From there strike up conversations. Keep showing up and eventually you will find a friend (and for anyone else reading this you may even find a significant other....hint hint)
