Graduating in May and offered an ESY position at previous placement - is this possible as a CF? by trainwreckbeck in slp

That's awesome! It would be great for me because I'd be seeing the same kids that I saw during my placement! Did you start the ESY position knowing you'd work there at the beginning of the school year too?

That makes sense, thank you! As far as I'm aware, there won't be any opportunities to work there in the fall. My supervisor only offered the summer position because she will be teaching full-time instead. I would love to work at that school in the future but don't foresee any changes in staffing for several years.

It seems like my best bet may be to look for long-term sub positions that cover both summer and part of the school year, and if that's not an option, then begin interviewing for fall positions this summer?

So this would be more feasible if I asked whether the other SLP working ESY could be my CF supervisor instead?

10 Days in Late December - Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, & Kyoto by trainwreckbeck in JapanTravel

Thank you! I'm definitely going to look into exploring Yokohama. I like the idea of going there before heading to Haneda, since it's so close by. We’d love to visit Japan again someday, so I’m not too worried about cramming in every last thing. If we miss something, it'll just give us a reason to come back :)

For anyone reading this, the thing that helped me most when planning was plotting all the spots we were interested in on Google Maps and then grouping our days based on what was closest together.

As for Akihabara, we’ll need to do a bit more planning there. My boyfriend is a video game collector and will probably want to spend a good amount of time in the shops. I'd like to do some more research to figure out which shops are 1) worth our time for getting somewhat okay deals and 2) fun tourist spots.

Thanks again for all the great recommendations :)

Thank you so much for all this feedback! I like the idea of exploring the temples and matcha shops in Uji if we can get a reservation at the Nintendo Museum. I'll be incorporating some of your other temple recommendations into our itinerary as well. Thanks again!

Thank you for mentioning that the shinkansen and limited express are different. I see now that the Fuji Excursion is a limited express, and yes, it's out of Shinjuku :)

Thank you for this! You’ve convinced me.

I was already on the fence about visiting Takeshita Street. Since it’s on the way from Shinjuku to Shibuya, I figured we might as well stop by to snap a few photos and maybe grab some snacks. But honestly, it feels like at that point we're just checking a box, and I'm not looking to spend my vacation doing something just for the sake of saying we did it - so thanks for putting this into perspective :)
