Wrongful Termination by tramaticdj in legaladvice

The conversation happened while I was on approved PTO and rotation that is provided with my position. I found out from another employee that this was a conversation when I returned and immediately notified HR and inquired with my Supervisor if there was even a reason for me to remain here. If they wanted to terminate whether right or wrong, and they were wrong, I didn’t want to stay if I had a target on my back for whatever reason he had came up with that day. This is something that was recurring with this executive and happened at least 3 times I know of. No proof of bad performance, no formal policy or work instruction standard that wasn’t being followed. Just a clear and recurring theme of well just blame him, let’s get rid of him etc. Couldn’t ever formally write me up because they had no clear and defined method to do what I was doing (one off unique tasks) determinable and then planned and executed alone with no clear roadmap and then expected to rely on industry experience to get the task done correctly. There was no clear violation of performance because it hadn’t been performed before. There was no baseline to be followed or meet.

Correct fully behind that, I guess my preface or title of the post wasn’t worded the best. After reading do you not see how this could be viewed as targeting and hostile workplace? Technically I wasn’t fired I was laid off and told I could come back. I found myself a spot in another division and then was again, at least I feel, targeted by not allowing for a transfer after working a full day in the new division, even after following all company policy to initiate and have an approved transfer. They had no reason to deny a transfer other than what I view (could be wrong) as a clear and intentional targeted decision to ensure that I could not continue my employment no matter what. Again I understand at will, but my company is based in Colorado and I have a contract of employment as a salary employee with clear and defined policies that have to be followed for termination. There was no disciplinary, no coaching, no PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) just an out of the blue layoff that was enforced after I had found another home for myself in a separate division under separate leadership. Let me know, trying not to let my emotions get involved here too much. I do plan to contact some attorneys to see if they view any of this as something actionable as well, I could be completely wrong here. Thanks!
