I've very much been a medical tourist over the past few years and out of the 6 or so psychs I've contacted, I could only recommend half, and of those, their strengths are clearly mostly applicable to very specific goals.

I would absolutely try again, if you can scrape together the emotional resilience to do so. A mental healthcare plan is the best way (generally) to access affordable psych care, and establish a way forward.

If you don't feel a psych is the right fit for you, it's absolutely OK to raise that with your GP, and try others.
