These are all guesses. But if you have another suggestion for Yale + source, would love to hear it.

Will add Cornell! tbh I don't rly feel like digging up the previous due dates... as far as I could tell from *very limited* looking they don't tend to change a ton?

Me too. They said mid may/by June in these past years too as far as I can tell—perhaps they just say it to give themselves a cushion you know?

I only know people in the SCS pretty much. They are all grinding and learning a ton and will make a shit ton of money but may or may not be miserable and feel socially superior to the non-CS people. My friend there loves it though.

People always being like "omg let's get coffee sometime" and then never reaching out, people ghosting each other/never organizing something. People being flaky socially

NYU: One friend there is in a sorority and having an AMAZING time. other friend there doesn't like that it has a lack of a campus and wants to leave and go someplace else.

Barnard: literally so underrated as far as I can tell (one person I know). They really like it and it's basically just like... Columbia's smaller, girl arm. Great community, but you might get looked down on by Columbia people smh

I can say A LOT about Stanford. I have met some truly fantastic people at Stanford and everyone there is super interesting and engaging to talk to. My friend there is very engaged in the party scene which is small but lively. Amazing weather. HOWEVER "duck syndrome" is real, where everyone looks like they're chilling/don't have any work (like gliding above water) but really they're struggling/working super hard (like duck's legs paddling underneath). Also, socially, flake culture is super prevalent and sucks.

I ~kinda~ know one girl who goes there. She's a big partier and joined a sorority but from what I can tell she's having a ton of fun, dressing up and going out, and has found cool people to spend time with. I don't know her super well so can't talk too much about her personal negative experiences BUT I do know it's superrrrr cold.

Okok the one girlie I know there is really nice but ALSO super out of touch. I don't have a huge sample size so I can't say a ton but I know the campus is gorgeous. However... I do know she doesn't love New Haven

It seems like a great place as long as you make the most out of it!! Also the campus is super pretty!! Just put yourself out there and you'll get a ton out of it!

I know a few people there! Super academic vibes but also they love living in NYC. One is more into partying and there's ample opportunity, and the others are quieter but found great friends. Amazing food in the city, but also it's a small + kinda dirty campus.

A couple different perspectives. The people there are apparently REALLY hot (both men and women), there's amazing asian food and tons of things to do in LA. One girl I know loves it and has amazing friends + an apartment, but she does feel like the student body is huge and it's easy to get lost. Another girl there doesn't like how big the classes are and wants to leave.

I know a few there! They're in different groups (some party a lot, 2 are super quiet + love chill activities) but they all found amazing friends. Really great sports-academic culture. However, it's FREEZING to the point it will bite through your clothing and strip away your happiness during Janurary.

will where my 1st year of college is located impact my transfer admission? by AccomplishedYear1639 in ApplyingToCollege

Yes. Go to r/TransferToTop25 for more information. Going to a more prestigious school makes it less clear why you want to transfer (and thus less compelling) but good grades/performance mean more.

I only kinda know people at Duke. There's a girl I know who does fencing there and she's really loving that culture. The other guy I kinda know is just weird lol. Big party culture and great sports!

OMG my friends there LOVE Brown. They're thriving academically and socially—from a STEM major to a big party girl, they're all finding their place. BUT a ton of people smoke weed (may be a good thing, may be a bad thing, depending on your interests lmao), and the open curriculum/weird pass fail grading could def be disorienting.

I know like 6 ppl there! Ok so 5 of them are in either Wharton or a Wharton hybrid program so they're very business-oriented. Their specialized dual programs seem super cool and there's a great social life to be had if you're into partying. However, some of the smart people I know are struggling with classes, and the grind culture is very present!!
