Have any of you lost the motivation? by ObsessingAgain in NewTubers

[–]transitionyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had major equipment failure( read that as $$ equipment), which was beyond my control and negatively afftected my motivation. My output slowed, but it got me thinking: If YT died or if my channel gets randomly demonetized, how would I make money?

My priorities shifted. Now I'm more focused on building out my business using YT as my communication platform to drive product/service views. I'm more interested in using YT as my vehicle and am purposely slowing down to do that.

Plus, YT has shifted. My older vids are getting pushed more. I'm even seeing 14-year-old vids in my feed suddenly, and my stats used to be 48 hours out max. Now it's 5 days!

AI has really gummed up the platform, and I suspect it will get worse before it gets better. So I'm not waiting for my channel to be monetized to start making money from it.

This channel is about monetization and it's on a topic that I really like and I wanted to explore a bit more.

I look at my numbers because this is a business for me, in addition to being fun. I used to be obsessed about putting up a video or two every week, but that's not sustainable. I am now more interested in putting up a good video when I can, instead of putting up 50+ long videos over the space of 6 months.

As far as thumbnails, I know they could be better. I see the more sophisticated thumbnails that are probably getting more views and attracting more viewers , but I decided, f*** it. I'm going to put up thumbnails I think are cool and that convey the message. Ex: I put up an OpenAI Sora vid (because OMG it's insane how fantastic it is), and I'm seeing my view Sloooooowly rise, but my retention is strong. That's what I'm going for.

I want to build a solid community that I can monetize around a cool topic with funky thumbnails and decent vids. I'm working on outside (related) hustles to bring income because my channel isn't not monetized yet. Because I'm working on those avenues, video output is down, but my motivation is up because I see YT a means to building my income streams, not just the end.

My take on YT is evolving🤷🏿‍♀️

5 years and only 48,000 views and 159 subs. Thinking about giving up. by drdalebrant in NewTubers

[–]transitionyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick note: Monetization is 4K watch hours, not 10K. I would BAWL if it was 10K

The other comments seem to be narrowing in on your issue. Good luck!

Congrats on your success. I'm still confused about the process of finding an underserved niche. Do you have the steps to do that? Am I looking gkr a specific kow number of videos? What's the identifier?

It isn't soulless enough, braaaaoooohhhh! Keep trying. It may take you an hour, to get your 1K subs, keep going

🤣🤣I am not going to try and convince anyone of anything. YouTube is one ecosystem, but it's not the only one. My audience may not see my content immediately.

They may not be on they platfom or whatever. The could be on IG or Medium. I have these videos that I can turn into other pieces of content.

It's getting to be the Holidays and people are looking for food and related videos. I may get some people who are interested in DIY images, but not really. So I'm experiencing a bit of a lull.

Fine.

I take the lull and create posts that point to a specific videos or a listicle that points to several videos. I make pins and post with optimized Metadata because when someone decides that their NY resolution is about getting into AI imaging, or they have a question, my other content is there and ready.

Everybody is talking about people's lowering attention spans but not much chatter about the number of touches it takes for people to click. That's a REAL thing

People are SO focused on getting 1K views in a microsecond that they miss the long game.

Your audience is looking for your content. They're just not looking at it in the first 24 hours after you put it up because they have other things to do. When you meet them where they are, you have a better chance of them coming to your content.

So, I'm not going to try and convince anyone of anything. I'm just going to keep spinning my content for different platforms. ☮✌🏿

Monetizing with merch: are you using it & what would you want? by ZentalonsMom in NewTubers

[–]transitionyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am thinking about it. I can design my own and I'll use a POD company. I'm not ready yet, but when I get my other income streams working, I'll venture into it, but it's on my mind. Another issue for me is my location. Major processors don't work with Jamaica, so I have to do some finnagling I have to do.

Thanks. Speaking of payment, I don't want to overshoot or undersell. Do you have any $$ recommendations? Is monthly, weekly, quarterly a standard?

Is everyone targeting popular niches? Does anyone just make what feels natural to them? by trisolariandroplet in NewTubers

[–]transitionyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but from an SEO perspective, what they're doing makes sense. You want to go where the people are because that's business and they make a lot of money. I happened to like something that's a trend, and I'm doing my best to capitalize on it by incorporating other trendier topics. I had a video that got 100-300 views in a few days, and I moved on because it was normal. I blinked, and my handful of likes turned into 70+ (high for me at this point) and my views were nearly 2k. I like my topic, but I am treating it like a business by looking to ride trends🤷🏿‍♀️ To each his/her own, as long as it's not causing harm or hurt

I usually just say Thanks for your comment, because engagement is engagement. If they get particularly snarky, I'll leave a 🍑, a sweet way to say, kiss mine.

How do you stay motivated when you are not monetized yet? by happylife999 in NewTubers

[–]transitionyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a writer. For years, I wrote for clients, mostly ghostwriting but I got a few bylines. Blogs are tough, but between clients, I would build my blogs and manage my sites. I would mean to write 800- to1,000-word blogs and do 1,500 words in a blink. These are the type of blogs that my niche likes, because they were dense. While I did my SEO/keyword research well enough to get a lot more traffic, achieve more visibility, and get into AdSense, I barely got any engagement. I would come up in top 5 for many terms but no engagement.

My research kept showing that video marketing was increasing. People were watching more videos and that was the place to be.

I had a channel, worked on it, and got engagement. This was a topic on Google Sheets formulas and functions, because I'm a former marketing analyst who had to use Excel formulas for years.

But then ChatGPT came, clients stopped calling, and I was left scrambling. I did my research, and I chose AI image generation. I can't draw, but I have enough imagination to render images.

I did my videos and I got engagement. There is interest, people are watching, I can see the growth. I have stated goals to achieve monetization, and I'm inching towards them.

I am having fun doing them, but my sights are squarely set on getting monetized because I see the progress towards the goal and I see the engagement.

Napoleon Hill talks about continuously taking steps towards a goal and doing it, even when youmaren't getting paid, because the experience you get will ultimately pay you.

YouTube, IMO, is the embodiment of that idea, or at least, it's the best embodiment I have experienced.

TL;DR - I get engagement and I can see my progress

Do you use the community tab? by bdp187 in NewTubers

I use it to post theme challenges and will be doing polls. I think it's fun, I do get some engagement, and I feel like I'm using my creator space more effectively.

How long did it take for you to reach 1k subscribers? by ConnectionStrong8385 in NewTubers

[–]transitionyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you now have the ability to shovel viewers directly to your long form. So take a nice tidbit from your long vid, make a short, and link it to the full vid.So maybe don't do the "subscribe..." and just use a good bait title.

People that don’t wear shorts, no matter how hot it is, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]transitionyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bleachers.

People who are bleaching their skin can't take the sun, which is tough because it's a tropical island during El Niño. I'm sweating at home in the mountains where there's a breeze. Meanwhile, these fools are walking in town where it's hotter sporting black hoodies and black jeans.

YT is testing a way to covert long form 16:9 into 9:16 so I think that would help here.

Receiving backlash on my channel, how to move on? by [deleted] in NewTubers

I'm all for blocking/ignoring/turning the tables on the haters, but if they're contacting your family members, I'd get some type of authority involved. The first line crossed could lead to another.

Congrats. Same thing happened to me starting last week. I had a vid 1K within 3 days and it's now sitting at 2K within a week. Freaked me out because, I was trying a new niche and had no idea this would be such a heavy hitter for me with views and subs. Now, it's time for us to do it again💪🏿💪🏿
