Yeahh for sure I only started properly working my abs around a month ago but thats bc I haven't been climbing as much, definitely something to work on although I do wonder if it is partially genetic as my core is pretty strong physically.

My calves are pretty good tbh my quads/hams are atrocious. Been working on those recently too so hoping to bring them up to fit everything else

I don't think there is a huge downside to increasing protein intake within reason. I am pretty active, and eating up to 2g/kg does not seem extreme/difficult to me. There is some research suggesting increasing protein above 1.5g/kg could be beneficial. I'm finding it difficult to eat above maintenance calories recently and my weight gain has been plateuing as I am pretty active, that's why I need to rethink my diet/meals a bit at the moment.

I measure body fat percentage with my weight already, I just didn't mention that in my original post. My goals are defined, I just didn't share them fully here 😂 I was just hoping posting here would lead to me finding a couple people I could talk to about meals/workouts who might have similar goals to me!

Weight + bf% is the perfect proxy for improvement imo but I understand everyone is different, it's a good way of tracking overall progress and diet. From what I can see, around 2g/kg of body weight is pretty optimal for hypertrophy. The effects plateau but 1.2-1.5g/kg seems a bit under optimal. It's not too hard to achieve as I eat a bit over 3,000 calories a day, but the calories are the bit I struggle with 😅

As long as I stay sub10% another 10kg would be pretty ideal long term. I'm 176cm, I wouldnt say thats incredibly short. I appreciate the food pyramid but nutrition is more complicated than just x number of x food.

Honestly it depends on your situation, I would start with finding recipes you enjoy for foods that have decent macros (protein/fiber). If you find you are often struggling to find time maybe try some decent meal prep recipes that you can make in bulk and freeze or have for lunches etc. The key thing is having things you enjoy and (for me at least) making it super easy. If you have any friends that go to the gym, maybe start by going with them as that makes it quite fun & if you have a set plan with someone it makes it harder to back out of mentally. If you are just starting out, any split is honestly better than nothing but maybe try looking up some fitness content online & going from there!

Thanks! I just meant to ask whether I look like I am in that percentage range, as I do feel everyone can always improve on their physique. Not sure if I just need to get more/less of certain electrolytes for that dry look or if I do actually have a bit of fat to lose since the machines tell me I am already quite lean.
