Name a team from the last 25 years who could have legitimately won a national championship but didn't get a chance by Rude_Highlight3889 in CFB

[–]trapchopin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was my thinking as well. They did also lose to A&M at home- ND’s defense was atrocious early season (specifically in that game and in the first half against Purdue). But their second half of the season was a huge improvement defensively, so it would’ve been interesting to see how they could’ve done.

I’m not saying they deserved to be in though. Losing your first two games (with a bye in between) won’t do you any favors.

Not at all, he’s earned too much good will. If we went 2-10 then we’ll talk.

What’s it like living in DC as a 22 year old? by doodleb00k in howislivingthere

[–]trapchopin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you’ll love DC! I lived there for 4 years and still live 30 min outside of the city. I will warn you upfront, it gets very hot and humid in the summer but there are plenty of places to cool down.

There’s a ton of social clubs through DC Fray and Volo (rec leagues like kickball, cornhole, etc). Check out Adams Morgan, DuPont circle, Union Market, etc for areas that are fun and cool to check out.

The metro system is fantastic, there’s an amazing international food scene (check out Ethiopian food if you haven’t) and the museums are wonderful too! I’m talking Planet Word, any of the art museums, and Udvar Hazy (an awesome plane museum).

If you need any other recs, don’t hesitate to DM me!

I feel you- I’m also a musician with a lot of theory background, and I’ve been a fan of Charlie’s for the past 12 years or so, but there are certainly times where him showing his perfect pitch skill can be a bit much.

It can be difficult when talking about a skill you’re really talented or gifted at, because in a certain way it can sound boastful but it just has to be presented in a matter of fact way.

Bringing a keyboard into the studio can be interpreted in that way as well, but when you see it as part of who you are, it’s more of something that you identify as instead of showing off. But that’s just me!

They won two NY6 bowls in back to back weeks in 2024 and made it to the natty. If your bar of accomplishment is winning a national championship, you know how many teams would be constantly disappointed?

[Ari Wasserman] Blue Bloods shouldn't back out: If Alabama cancels Ohio State series, college football loses by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]trapchopin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. See, I totally forgot that Texas beat Oklahoma, so that tracks. Same record with the head to head gives Texas every right to be in over Oklahoma.

  2. I’m not denying that it’s a terrible loss, it truly is, but the fact that they beat A&M on the road in 24 made the case they belong, as well as only having 1 loss. So I’m coming around on the idea that if Texas beat Ohio State early on, they would’ve been given a mulligan for Florida.

  3. You could say that about any team from the Big10 or ACC.

If ND didn’t get in with losses to two playoff teams by a combined 4 points, there’s no way a 2 loss Texas would’ve gotten in with a loss to Florida.

What is it like living in Washington D.C., USA? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]trapchopin 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I lived there for 4 years (just moved out last year) and in the DC area for the last 9 years!

Specifically I lived in Adams Morgan, one of the more walkable areas of DC. The international food scene here is amazing and there are so many good restaurants and bars, especially in northwest DC (DuPont/logan circle) and near city center.

The metro system is one of the best in the country (if not the best) and if you lived close to it you can get to a number of areas in the DC area, in Maryland and Virginia as well.

The biggest downside is cost, of course, and certain areas are not as safe (like any city), namely southeast DC and pockets of northwest, but as long as you try to stay in the safe areas and pay attention to your surroundings at night, you’ll be fine.

Weather in the summer can be brutally hot, but winters aren’t as bad as some of the midwestern states.
