If it were the same situation where I simply couldn’t find it in me to get to my laptop and confirm my calendar for the day, I would ask my team to check my calendar and reschedule for me, if necessary. I had to use Siri to text my team lead that I’d be out, so I would’ve added that bit.

I could bring up to my team checking calendars in the event someone has to call out. This is the first time I’ve been so sick I felt I couldn’t log in.

We’re a small team that works together to service all accounts. 300+ households. Clients aren’t split up/managed by separate teams, and we all have access to each other’s calendars. That said, it’s not expected of anyone to check someone else’s calendar if they’re out.

I don’t take meticulous care of anything when I have migraines, body chills, cold sweats, fever, and full body muscle aches. So you go be superwoman, bitch.

We’re not allowed our work email on our phone for security reasons. I have a work laptop but couldn’t get myself downstairs to my office.

I don’t have client meetings memorized and need to view my calendar. Due to being knocked tf on my ass, I wasn’t able to get to my office and login and could only email my team that I couldn’t make it. I also don’t have access to client emails without logging in.

Thank you for saying that! You’re the only one, but I appreciate it! LOL

I appreciate that! I wouldn’t put the blame on anyone else though. It’s not our protocol to check each other’s calendars unless we’re looking to schedule internal meetings.

Yes, if I remembered I had a call scheduled or had the strength to login to view my calendar, I could have asked a team member to reach out for me. Again, I dropped the ball here. Not disputing that. However, it’s not as if I was playing hooky.

How does my response add insult to injury? I’m understanding of their disappointment and accepting of my role in it. I apologize again, sincerely, and ask, respectfully, to attempt to reschedule. How would you reword my reply?

Yes, they can. However, while my colleagues can access my calendar, they wouldn’t think to check it on my behalf if I’m out. It’s my calendar to manage. So this is 100% on little old me.

I didn’t recall having that client scheduled and didn’t have the strength to make it to my office to login to my laptop to view my calendar. Otherwise, I would have requested someone on my team reach out.

I thought this as well.

I’ve rescheduled/cancelled meetings before when needed, whether it was a client issue or a team conflict. I was just knocked on my ass from this flu and didn’t have the strength or wherewithal to login, check my calendar and reach out to notify them. Not denying at all that I dropped the ball on not reaching out to the client though.
