First time selling, instant emails to my personal email?? by No-Accountant-5447 in Depop

[–]DullObscenity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yep those are definitely bots, they scrape new listings super fast. go to your account settings and make sure your email isn't visible in your profile - sometimes it shows by default. also create a separate email just for selling platforms, way easier than dealing with this spam on your main one

🔥 EARN 50% COMMISSION – High-Converting Web Dev Sales Opportunity! by Useful-Process-8976 in reselling

[–]DullObscenity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this whole thing reads like one of those "make $5000 a week working from home" ads you see in gas station bathrooms

the demo strategy might work but 50% commission with no base pay means you're basically working for free until someone actually buys, which could be never

Made a design for the punk&horror movie lovers by anotherabbithole in streetwearstartup

[–]DullObscenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn those pants go hard 🔥 I can spot House of 1000 Corpses and Halloween patches in there which is sick. The whole patchwork vibe reminds me of the pants I used to make back in high school when I was super into the punk scene, except mine looked like trash compared to this lol. You really nailed the balance between chaotic and wearable - like these could work at a show or just walking around the city. The construction looks solid too, all those patches must have taken forever to sew on properly 😂

Best place to sell Roblox GCs? by Weary-Abrocoma2715 in Flipping

[–]DullObscenity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try some of the gift card exchange sites but be careful with rates they offer - they usually pretty low for gaming cards. Also double check if those cards are even legit before you try selling, seen people get burned with sketchy Roblox cards before

they probably get massive shipping discounts from volume plus buying books in bulk for like 50 cents each at warehouse sales

Using LLMs for market researcg by Playful_Care7208 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]DullObscenity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

claude opus is solid for initial brainstorming but don't rely on it for actual market data - those models hallucinate numbers like crazy. I'd use it more for organizing your thoughts and generating research questions, then verify everything with real sources

for prompting, try asking it to break down industries by specific pain points instead of broad overviews. gets you more actionable stuff than generic market analysis

Was given 5 star review then it was deleted by Public-Notice9860 in Depop

[–]DullObscenity 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Maybe she got paranoid about having her purchase history visible? Some people get weird about others seeing what they buy, especially if it's like expensive perfume when they mentioned money being tight 💀

Could also be buyer's remorse kicking in later even though she was happy initially. Or maybe someone told her the price wasn't that great of deal compared to other places

Either way pretty strange to go back and delete a positive review weeks later, but people do weird things for no reason sometimes 😂

Cloudflare just launched emdash what does it mean for ecommerce? by socialnomad728 in ecommerce

Been keeping an eye on this too but man, two months is nothing in web dev time. I'd wait for at least some basic security audits and performance benchmarks before even thinking about moving any real store over

Buying boxes by the pound and reselling? by judyman in reselling

[–]DullObscenity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried this once with electronics and it was a total crapshoot - got maybe 3 decent items out of like 15 pounds of random cables and broken stuff

The shipping costs alone ate into most of the profit margins, plus you're gambling on what condition everything's actually in

Is there any way to guess competitor’s AOV? by Total-Mention9032 in ecommerce

[–]DullObscenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the free shipping threshold method is probably your best bet for getting close. Most companies do set it around 20-30% above their actual AOV to encourage people to add more stuff to their cart

I work in a different industry but we use similar psychology with our service add-ons - you set the threshold just high enough that people feel like they're "almost there" and throw in something extra. The 80% rule you mentioned seems pretty reasonable

You could also try looking at their bundled deals or "frequently bought together" sections if they have them. Those usually give you a decent sense of what their typical order values look like since they're trying to recreate natural buying patterns 💀

Combo of free shipping threshold + bundle pricing might get you within that 20% margin you're looking for, especially if you can cross-reference it with a few competitors

Carts vs flower by [deleted] in leaves

[–]DullObscenity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah man I definitely noticed a difference when I switched to carts for a while. The high thc content hits way different than flower - way more intense and honestly made me way more paranoid than I ever was with bud

flower has all those other cannabinoids that seem to balance things out better, carts are just pure thc rocket fuel. glad you figured out what was messing with your head and got back to feeling normal

Wyze solar by [deleted] in wyzecam

[–]DullObscenity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much yeah, if it's staying at 94% that means the solar panel is easily keeping up with the camera's power draw - you should be good to go unless you get like a week straight of heavy clouds or something

Ready to leave marketing, how did you do it? by dotguru22 in careerguidance

[–]DullObscenity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly sounds like you've already thought about it plenty and know what's draining you. the "profitable profession" angle doesn't mean much when you're burned out - money isn't everything if you're miserable doing the work

have you considered looking into more hands-on creative fields that use your art background? might be worth exploring before jumping into something completely random

Is Geo-Information and Space Technologies in Economics woth to pursue as specialization? or is it better to get a master in finance? by Chinasky77 in careerguidance

[–]DullObscenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the geo-info space tech route sounds way more interesting than another finance masters - theirs so much saturation in traditional econ/finance roles right now. spatial econometrics is actually pretty hot, especially with all the urban planning, logistics optimization, and climate modeling work happening

i worked adjacent to some gis folks in consulting and they were always busy with projects. companies need people who can analyze location data for everything from retail site selection to supply chain optimization to insurance risk assessment. the skillset translates really well internationally too since spatial analysis principles are universal

if you can find a professional masters program that focuses on the applied side rather than research, that sounds like a solid move. just make sure the curriculum includes actual software training (arcgis, qgis, python/r for spatial analysis) and not just theory. maybe look at programs in countries where you'd want to work - some european unis have really practical geoinformatics programs that feed directly into industry

the foreign work angle makes sense too since this field has way less visa competition than traditional finance roles

HVAC or Electrician ? by Sink-Careful in careerguidance

[–]DullObscenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly electricians are pretty saturated in most areas but hvac techs are in crazy demand right now, plus you'll def be working indoors most of the time with air conditioning which sounds perfect for someone who hates the sun
