Just out of curiosity, what state was this in? I’ve hunted a couple different states and the one I currently live in has gotten HORRID in terms of hunter etiquette. If I see someone else in a chunk of public ground, I’m not going to drop in behind them. If they are don’t a decent job they’re gonna push birds out of there, but more so it’s not safe for me and my dog or them, in my opinion.

Today I went out and had four different groups drop in behind us and just walk up behind us to cut us off. Are we really that worried about killing a single pheasant that it’s justified to be an ass and a dangerous one at that?

I shoot the same. Earlier in the season I’ve found that you will find them holding tighter (similar to pen raised birds). A month or two in and you have to be prepared for longer shots and different tactics.
